I dunno... I think its asking for a lot.

Jerry Jones - Owner
Bill Parcells - GM
Jimmy Johnson - Coach

No because 1) Jerry will not give up the GM title 2) Parcells loves coaching too much 3) Jimmy is not going to coach again and if he did he'd want total control.

Why in the world would they even want to? None of em could take near enough credit even if they should happen to turn it around.

Be hard enough for Jerry even the way it is now. If he tried to yank the trophy away from Bill the way he did with Switzer, Bill would pound on him. ;)

Only way its gonna happen is on Fantasy Island. YOUR Fantasy Island. Bill Parcells would never be a Good General manager.

Nope

Think about it.

Let's just say your the coach of the Cowboys and you missthe playoffs this year.

Jerry brings in Jimmy in a quote on quote "Limited Role".

I dont know about you, but I would put two and two together and come to the conclusion Jerry doesnt think your doing a good job.

Bill is a smart man and would probably come to this conclusion as well.

Im down with the Napolean Bonaparte approach, "Rather have 1 not so compotent General (not saying Parcells isnt) as opposed to 2 brilliant Generals because they would argue and never get anything done".

When Jimmy interviewed Jerry before that T-Giving game in 02(Campo's last year), he asked him if he
was thinking about hiring a GM.(and it was also the same year they both finally reconciled their bickering)

The last time Jimmy was coaching, he had complete control with Miami. However-when he quit, even it looked like he got fed up with the pressures of juggling coaching and GM duties.

FWIW-my gut tells me that this WILL ultimately happen either next year or the year after. Jones really likes Parcells and Jimmy. And Parcells has all but realized that the game has passed him by. This could very well be a lethal combination.

I'd like to see it happen just because of the size of the egos involved. The fallout would be incredible. And i'm not just saying that cause I'm a skins fan, i'd like to see three egos that big in any front office/coaching capacity for any team trying to work things out.

I mentioned this in another similar thread--Johnson and Parcells are close friends, check out Jimmy's "Turning The Thing Around" book from the early 90s that details his first years in Big D. Parcells was Jimmy's NFL head coaching confidante, especially when times were rough in '89 and '90.

That being said, it would have to be a perfect confluence of circumstances for this occur, IMHO. One of the bigger issues I see is not so much ego-related, it's actually a difference in fundamental personnel philosophy between Johnson and Parcells. Jimmy has always preferred the sideline-to-sideline speed demons, especially on defense, while Parcells places a higher premium on size (while still placing importance on speed, but perhaps not as high on the priority list as Johnson).

Yeah... and if it worked... you WOULD be crushed... because it would further signal your teams circle-jerk of going nowhere. And its revolving door of coaches... LOL

Three reasons it wont happen:
1)Jerry must retain as much control as possible over the team and management
2)BP and Jimmah want as much control as possible
3) See reason No. 1
