Time will tell how this season plays out without Micah, chances are we will be saying the Micah trade didn't have all that much of an impact because...(any number of reasons). The truth is how Jerry operates from here will determine the team's future for the next several years, this looks like Jerry's last-ditch effort to win something that maybe he can call his and take credit for aside from just the value of the team, not Jimmy's, and not Landry's or anyone else's, I think Jerry has been looking for this type of scenario to give him some credibility as a football guy, I'm not saying it worked or will work! The only question is does Jerry have the Moxie to make it work or will he go out as just a very good businessman who kept too much control over the operations component of the Dallas Cowboys team and we all suffered because of it.

The best thing Jerry could do is convince Dak that with this trade they’re doing a sort of rebuild.

And if he wants a chance to win now then
he needs to accept a trade.

Then go all out for a QB in the top of the draft.
Then he would have pulled off one of the greatest GM feats of all time.

Avoid a mistake & get out of a mistake all at the same time.

Then if he would just learn how to build a good D line, he might get on a roll in his 80's!!!

The only part of this trade that doesn't make sense is Jerry is in win now mode.
He can also solidify a strong roster with redoing, now he easily has the money, 4 contracts or Vets right here.

Bland, Tyler Smith, Pickens, and redo Carter.

Let's see how he aggressive he is with the picks and CAP space next offseason. I think that show us everything about how much he really wants to win.

The Jets traded S Jamal Adams for 2 1sts, which turned out to be better picks than what will likely be the 2 1sts Dallas gets from GB. Jamal Adams is a fine player. He's not in Micah Parsons's orbit.

Point being, THE JETS are a more shrewd organization than Dallas, and the only thing separating the two franchises is that Dallas totally lucked into 20 years of pro-bowl caliber QB play from an UDFA and a 4th rounder while the Jets were woefully unlucky at finding a QB.

If you think Jerry has a plan then he fooled you again. Jerry has no plan. He did not plan on trading Micah. If he had then he would have done it a long time ago. This trade was simply Jerry's ego reaching its limit. Micah was winning the game of chicken and Jerry could not have Micah beating him at his own game. So Jerry took the only offer on the table. Everyone talking about 2 1s and 2s was wrong. Jerry got basically 2 late first round picks and an aging vet DTs who was really good once, but we'll have to see if he can still hold up at age 30.

Jerry is all in on dak. I dont think he has interest in Manning or any other qb.

All true, but I think his boy and others had decided parsons was not worth 40 mil a year.
They think they can be better using that $ for other players, multiple players.

They have had parsons for 4 years, and he was not a difference maker, no impact at all in big games, and playoffs, he really was just someone who looked good against weaker teams.
Parsons success year 1 went to his head, and instead of becoming a great player he went downhill overall.

This is the first time he has ever made a big trade of a player who had a lot of value.
The key is what they do with those 2 # 1's .
I would wait and use them as draft picks. They may be low if GB does good, but still having
our rd 1 and the gb rd 1 in 26 would be a first for the cowboys. They just have to get the right players, good players, that is essential.

If they get another taco or mazi, or guyton with that pick, then yeah kind of wasting it.

Yes, they do things to remain “relevant” all while knowing they needed at least a soft rebuild, so half measures are taken.

The crime was not doing what was necessary to get over the top when Lamb and Parsons were on rookie deals. A fifth round LB with a neck problem over Wagner is the shining example of that ineptitude, but the DT room was garbage also (this years was worse until yesterday).

You’ve gotta do either/or, but they aren’t up for doing it correctly.

I can’t complain at all since I’ve been moaning for years that the ‘draft only’ roster team needs to find a way to get extra picks, and this was the only realistic way…..but like I said yesterday, they need to parlay those GB into more picks, and open another window and/or find the next QB.

Also doesn't make sense to have paid out huge contracts to your QB and WR1 over the past 1-2 years then let go of your best pass rusher the following year.
Yes it is hard to be competitive when you are constantly late on getting your star players signed and it costs you millions of dollars in extra cap. That is why Dallas lost Parsons, but it could work out in the Cowboys favor in the 26 and 27 draft.
