Jerry Brings the AAF Championship Game To Dallas

I'm not interested in getting in the middle of an economic debate, but this is probably a good move for the AAF. It's a new league and still have a bunch of unknowns, how many fans of the teams will travel, interest in the Championship game, etc. Vegas is a desirable destination, original site, but how many will travel there? 12k sounds small, but no one really knows yet how many fans will travel, the original site in Vegas holds 36k which may be ambitious the first year and certainly anything larger would not look very good when televised. At least at 12K they will get a sell out and create a demand for the limited seats.

The AAF gains a World Class facility, even if it is in the smaller venue, but it will get the added benefit of the Jerry and the Cowboys. We know anything Cowboys is good for marketing, even if not quite directly tied to the team. They get the extra attention and marketing through Jerry and even if the Cowboys aren't involved, he does love to show off and loves attention. Jerry gets the benefit showing off the facilities and the added attention. It may have a limited economic impact in year 1, but if it continues to build then, Jerry has the inside track to maybe hosting future games in Jerry World. Being embraced by one of the most high profile NFL owners is a good thing for the AAF and the future viability of the league could also be beneficial to the NFL.
Spot on&on point, my man!

*our ol' FOOTBALL DaD knows a thing or two about a thing or two,,,er,,,
TOO! As he's in the bizness to do some BIZNESS:starspin:

o_O

The most expensive ticket I see is only $150.00 so I don't think this was a "money play" by Jerry to charge more.
I don't think that's HIS angle at all, either! (Yet),,, A person really needs to look at it for what it is, he's the proud owner of a new FOOTBALL STADIUM designed to facilitate the FOOTBALLISH arts in conducting the game of FOOTBALL and whether anybody likes it or not ,,,
the A.A.F. is FOOTBALL

* and it's visually obvious he's first outta' the gate to embrace that upstart league,,, it'll be interesting in seeing how well this upcoming XFL will be received by the various other "diversified" bizness mogul's of vision

But to dislike because somebody is successful..

that is discriminatory.

.

Its never been about that. My strengths lie in public service (military, public safety) which has never paid well and never well. But I enjoy it, and at the end of my career I think I will be able to take pride knowing I made a difference to people and a community.

Jerry's strength obviously is on the business and money making side of things. He's excelled there. Good for him. But when you're already worth 7 billion and won't live long enough to spend but a very minuscule part of it, when is it going to be enough?

As far as Jerry is concerned, I have never once disliked him or any other wealthy person simply because they have more money. I dislike him because he destroyed my favorite sports franchise, and refuses to take the steps HE KNOWS will make a difference, i.e., hire a real GM and HC. I'll change my opinion once he shows he cares more about the franchise than he does about his wallet and ego.

Let me tell you the good thing about this.

This helps Arlington, Texas. This puts money in the pockets of people working the game, and a shate pot of other businesses that reside around the stadium, from hotels to restaurants and other places to shop.

Jerry took money from Arlington to build that stadium. They contributed about one third the cost. I'm pretty certain I read this that Jerry has paid off the money Arlington put up already.

Now here is the real twist on this. Laura Miller was a journalist for the Dallas Observer. She wrote those expose's on govt and companies cheating people. At one point she decided to run for Mayor of Dallas after being on the city council. During her tenure Jerry approached her to put the stadium in Downtown Dallas. In her myopic mindset she told him no.

So every time he hosts something like this, or boxing, or basketball, or concerts, the money that could haven been in the pockets of the businesses, hotels, and restaurants in and around downtown Dallas goes to Arlington.

Don't think the business owners of Dallas, and its citizens don't see that gargantuan error in judgment MIller did to the city she was leading and promoting.

That could be her down fall right there and like you said the business owners will not forget.

Who says there won't be a championship game in Dallas? So Jerry DID bring a championship game to Dallas after all these years........:muttley:

Don't know if this has already been posted.......

The AAF's first championship game will no longer be held in Las Vegas on April 27, as originally planned. Instead, the game will now be played in the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas -- a 12,000 seat facility owned and operated by Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

"The Alliance has built a foundation of high-quality football, revolutionary technology and world-class partnerships with the NFL, CBS and Turner Sports," said Jones in a statement. "It was only natural that we at the Cowboys organization would want to join that great group of partners. I have always believed that our great game of football could use a league to give players the shot they needed to make it to the NFL, and Bill Polian, Tom Dundon and Charlie Ebersol, have done just that. We are proud to be able to host their inaugural Championship Game."

The San Antonio Commanders have been drawing big crowds, over 30k in their last game and they're 1st in the West.

Doh! I thought it would be in JerryDome!
