Jerry Confirms Kellen Moore will be QBs Coach

The word out of Frisco is Moore was signed as QB coach to maintain "continuity " what continuity are they speaking of? Dak looked like crap this past season. Do we really wanna continue that trend? Well at least we have been forewarned boys and girls. Expect much of the same continunity as this past foul season.

When I was a kid, I couldn't throw a football.

Never could pull it off. Always had a bad spiral. Threw it into the ground or spun it as a duck.

I always dreamed I'd be my heroes, Roger Staubach, or Danny White. Loved Danny. Thought he was the guy that could get it done. My lifetime Coach Landry was there, and Danny slinged it like no one else. Didn't help that by my biological father worked for the Cowboys and I got to meet a lot of the players.

But, later in life, as a teenager, I got on the football team! A small 1A team in south Alabama where my family took me. I had good football smarts, knew the game, the schemes. Kept rolling over in my mind how I'd be the next Danny White or our new UCLA hotshot, that guy..Troy something.

But, nah, couldn't sling it still. Threw it to the ground. Ended up 5'8 as well. Legs like trees though, so a tight end I was. Well, Tight end till a game with Enterprise AL High where I set a block and both knees permanently exploded with meniscus tears to the back on both.

Point is, I knew the game. Never had the body for it. Broke myself to the point I am 40 and walk with a cane because of what happened at 16. The fact I made straight A's in my classes on football as a kid doesn't make me a coach. If it did, I'd be doing it.

Very risky move. I hope it works out or Garrett could finally be gone.

Jerry prefers continuity when he's large and in charge. No changes needed then. But the last thing he was thinking about was continuity when Parcells bolted. We needed radical change then.

Wow. Great thinking.

Backup QBs are prime candidates to be coaches. They are almost always guys who made rosters because of smarts despite noodle arms.

You'd be hard pressed to find an accomplished QB coaching. Frank Reich is the most accomplished I can think of - his main trait was being an ideal QB size.

Come on. Think this through a little better yourself. Kellen Moore has done nothing. He has no coaching experience at all. This is a comfort move and a favor--nothing more. Dak and this franchise deserve better, but won't get it.

Many assistants start with no coaching experience of note.

That is particularly common for former backup QBs.

But please, do detail all the great QB coaches that are on the market right now.

Hmm, I could have sworn there was a change at O-Line coach and DB coach .....

Jerry is the owner and GM - he's going to be large and in charge regardless of who the Cowboys QB coach is.

Hopefully Moore is better at teaching others how to play the position than he was at actually playing it?

If being a highly successful NFL QB is necessary to be a good QB coach then there isn't a single good QB coach in the NFL, and there hasn'

And Kellen can learn from Garret about coaching much like Garrett is learning from Jerry. Lets keep it all in the football family and ignore the results over the 20+ years. It's the DC way.

Stop being negative.

This could really work out.

It appears this man really has a command of the system and can make a difference.
:lmao2:

We disliked Wilson because he had a ton of experience and had multiple good QBs develop on his watch but he was never promoted above QB coach.
We disliked Moore as a QB because he was only on the roster to coach Dak, so why were we wasting a roster spot.
We dislike Moore as a QB coach because, though he's no longer taking up a roster spot, he's now taking the first string position coach job and we think he ought to start out as the backup QB coach so we can get a starter with some real experience in there somewhere.
We're irritated with Linehan and Garrett generally for not staring high potential players when we think it's obvious they should be getting playing time.
And we get mad at Linehan for staring a high-potential person in a coaching role because we think he should have to earn that responsibility instead of being given it because of his potential.

Does that just about cover all the things we dislike or are irritated about that touch on this gig in any way, shape or form? Did I forget something?

It's like I'm in his head.

I don't know about great QB coaches, but there are probably a few former QBs who have achieved something more than nothing who could be brought in.
