Jerry Dropping Clues About QB?

Most everyone. Very few actually thought a QB in Rd 1 was on the table after his "we plan on Romo playing 5 more years" comment. If thats what they actually believe, most thought it would be hard for them to spend a top 5 pick on someone they don't expect to start unless Romo gets hurt. Yes people wanted a QB early, but most on these boards didn't think it was in the plans.

Didnt buy it then, dont buy it now. Could very well draft a QB rd1. Romo playing 5 years is Jerry talking out his you know what.

I hope he is thinking that way as Latinmind has said before JJones is pretty honest
with what he says to the press. Surprisingly so.

I hope we wait till round 2 and get a more "sure fire" impact player early...

Smokescreen.

The Cowboys need an impact player not a rookie QB on the sidelines.

If one of the top rated QBs is there when we pick, I'd honestly be surprised if we didn't pick them.

Jerry doesn't do that. He has a well established history of telling people what he and his people are really thinking. Everyone screamed smokescreen last year when he said they may not take a RB. That turned out exactly like he said.

If the Cowboys take the right quarterback with a top pick, we're set at that position for the next 12-15 years, not to mention having much better quarterback play when Tony inevitably misses games in the next couple of years. That's a lot better than a cornerback who can start immediately, IMO. Or the safety some want. You just are not at the top of the draft that often. And I don't want to be there again for a long time.

People seem convinced that quarterbacks have a higher first round bust rate than other positions. Actually, they are middle of the pack. The linemen that a lot of those people think are more "sure-fired" actually have a worse bust rate.

No guarantee a CB even starts. Waynes s a subpackage DB with Minnesota

I'm kinda hoping we go DB, WR, DE, or LB with our first pick. Somebody who is extremely talented and worthy of a Top 5 pick.

With the draft being such a crapshoot, I feel like if you're drafting in the top 5, either you need to be damn sure you know who you're drafting and are extremely confident that player is going to be an immediate playmaker, or you roll the dice on the vital positions of the team (QB, LT, Pass Rusher).

That being said, I have a good amount of confidence in Will McClay's scouting acumen. He's been really good at keeping this team focused and drafting in the right direction. I'll trust nearly any decision they make regarding our first pick.

There you go, QB round 1, and TE in the 2nd round . . . .

Yeah I wouldn't rule out LT either even though we have Ty..

I wouldn't either. Worst case scenario, we have 5 first round talents on our OL for the next few years. What a wonderful problem to have.

While I'd rather the team use that pick on an area of the team that needs it more, if the team thinks that an OT is the best value, then that's what they should do if they can't find a trade partner. I'd rather not draft a guy we have ranked as our 15th best prospect with the 7th overall pick.
