So I was watching the "Jerry Jones Show" last night and Mickey asked him if he was going to be interested to see the rook linemen play tonight.

Instead of going right into talk about the draft picks, Jerry launches into about two minutes of talk on Jeremy Parnell. Parnell apparently is just learning technique - he was a basketball player in college and hasn't played much football up to now. Jerry talked like he has a future with the team. Coaches excited etc.

About the rookie linemen, Jerry seemed to say they are looking for versatility out of them, not necessarily a starter at LG.

He bragged some on Radway, sounds like he'll make the team.

Jerry BSes a lot in interviews but you can kind of get a good idea of what is on the collective mind of the coaches/front office ... if you read between the lines.

I take everything Jerry says, regarding personnel, with a grain of salt. I remember Troy Aikman speaking in an interview about how Jerry would sunshine pump even the most mediocre players after the draft and in training camp.

That's not to say that Parnell won't turn into a decent player, I would just rather wait until I hear it from an objective source or see it with my own eyes.

That's the guy that has the dreads right? If it is i don't understand the admiration with him, beyond size! What i saw with that second unit was horrendous and many times it was him on the left side looking lost! He might be having good practices I don't know!

Guess you missed the part Jerruh was talking about Parnell still learning technique! Geez.

This would be great if I had any respect whatsoever for Jerry's opinion on personnel.

Parnell looked good in the preseason game against the Broncos. He needs more seasoning, but he does have some ability to work with.

Sounds like Parnell is consistently gaining the edge over Young whom Jerry drafted.

It's real luxery to have a decent backup OT on the bench just incase of an injury.

Radway isn't only taller, he looks like he could be faster than any of the #3s.

Sounds like Young needs to raise his game several notches if Jerry isnt just being Jerry. Parnell higher ceiling, Young higher floor?

FWIW, Broaduss was asked who would be the team's swing tackle if the season started today. He said it would likely be Parnell.

Now, that could be indicative of just how poor the team's OT depth is currently, but it's also reflective of how poor/disappointing Sam Young has looked this training camp.

Parnell looked okay against the Broncos.

He is young and inexperienced but you can't coach size and natural footwork which he seems to have.

Parnell looked good against Denver...

I feel if he continues to improve Young will be the odd man out

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing.
Why shouldn't JJ be excited over every player they have in camp. They signed them for a reason....thinknig they have a shot. well, that's the light he will spin to the media.

And we pick up another OT in FA? Waivers? I think that would be the way we'd go.

Denver has one of the worst D lines in the NFL. So looking good against them is no reccomendation at all

I'm not sure why Young has to "suck" for Parnell to be impressive in camp.

And I greatly doubt a FA OT will be signed.

Which if they can make do with what they have, I support that position. I'd like this team to conserve what cap space it has in order to roll it into next year to help mitigate the $20 million in dead cap space already accumulated.
