Jerry facetimed with Matthew Golden's mom

As much as I want Golden's speed and add to that in the 2nd round with TreVeyon Henderson, I just can't take a #2 WR with the 12th pick. I don’t mean a #2 because CeeDee Lamb is here. I mean the ceiling is a 2. An elite 2 but still a 2. We must trade down a little and get another day 2 pick.

So that's where I'm at. Hold on to the 12th pick and see if anyone falls in your lap (Jeanty, Membou, Campbell). If not plan B is a trade down for Golden. Somewhere in the mid to late teens. If forced to make a pick at 12 I abort my mission for offensive juice and remain loyal to BPA by selecting the only blue chip LT prospect in this draft but with a medical tag in Josh Simmons.

Either way just say no to Tetairoa McMillan. Who really should be referred to as TetairoaMcMillan because the man can't separate.

Not what I'm saying. I'm saying Jerry--as a GM--has no idea what he's doing. That's why he relies on folksy things like 'was this guy raised right', or 'i talked to his momma, that's a good family right there'/ I think Golden is a good prospect, though not at all my favorite option.
The real gm is Will McClay.

Jerry is the decision maker. With that power comes all sorts of things. McClay has influence but it's inherently tempered by his relation to Jerry and his power.
Jerry is on the way out. McClay will be named gm and it won't be long.

1) What makes you think Stephen doesn't want the title?

2) What makes you think McClay does? He's stayed here and passed on opportunities to possibly be named GM elsewhere. There's something to be said for getting the credit when things go well but not the blame when things go poorly in the draft. Taco is Marinelli's pick. Mazi was Quinn's. Schoonmaker? That's Jerry and Stephen forcing a TE pick. Joseph, Jaylon Smith, Gregory? All Jerry.

You are on record saying that they don't know what they are doing with the Golden pick. That's interesting. He looks pretty good.
I'll say it now before you guys try to pretend people are unhappy AFTER the pick.

I do not like Golden at 12. I think it's a need pick and a reach because the front office is infatuated with adding speed. If they have to go WR in Rd 1, I'd rather have McMillan.

I think they would too, but Mcmillan will likely be gone. Golden is the cancelation prize. I think he will be a good shot in the arm for this offense regardless. If we manage to get a quality rb we will have some actual weapons past CD.

People will be unhappy no matter what they do.

If Jerry has some kind of personal connection with a player, he's as good as picked.

It gives him ammo to ramble and spin a 'charming' story at the press conference. When you don't know what you're doing, you justify your decisions because of your 'gut feeling'--and that's all Jerry's got.
I'm convinced he chases a story line more than he does a championship

And if he has already been drafted before 12?

Let's not act like Golden is elite. The guy had a decent year but not pick 12 worthy. I can't even believe we are talking about this. The hype train has officially ran off the rails.
