Jerry gives general thoughts on the 2017 draft

As much as Jerry loves the success that comes with drafting OLinemen in the 1st round in multiple years, I'm sure he's more than happy to bring in a big name pass rusher or CB.

If they lose, playoffs or SB, you bet your *** he'll bring in a FA.

If they win........They'll draft for their needs.

Save some cash and continue on with the youth movement.

1 thing stands out for me about the 2016 draft (aside from the talent level): all the guys we've taken appear to be free of emotional and/or mental baggage. I feel like whenever we try to take a chance on someone who has a questionable history (see 2016 round 2), it rarely works out for us. So in addition to taking the BPA in 2017, I hope we take the best players available who also happen to be responsible, mature, hard-working, team-oriented guys with non-stop motors.

There's no doubt we need to draft DEs and a corner or two next year. However, we also need a field stretching WR, especially if we don't resign Williams (then it's a definite need). We also need to draft a pass catching TE at some point. Maybe not next year, but Witten isn't going to be around forever and Escobar certainly doesn't appear to be the answer at this point. Hannah is primarily a blocker and we really don't know exactly what we have in Swaim at this point. We could go one more year without drafting a TE, but if the current ones on the roster can't eventually take Witten's place, it becomes a position of great need.
