Anybody who thinks Tom was a real threat his last season is either willfully lying or didn't pay any attention to him that year. Living in Tampa, I watched him make business decisions after business decisions. Getting rid of the ball at the slightest notion of pressure, not using his legs to extend plays or pick up yardage if he could (-1 yard rushing all season), loss of velocity on his deep throws that led to constant dump-offs and the lowest yard per attempt of his career, and his TD percentage cut basically in half to previous seasons. On local radio I got to hear the hosts and fans complain about his play week after week.
The 8-9 record was not all on him, but for the first time in his career, he played a big hand in a losing season. The offense dropped from 3rd in 2020, 3rd in 2021, and 2nd in 2022, to 25th that year overall, and scored 200 points less than the previous year, while the defense continued to hover around the top 10. He was a shell of himself and should have retired.
I will give you Russell Wilson, but given Dak's 5 losses, once in seven tries against a QB who is a threat is a pretty bad testament (obviously those losses are not all on him, but most of them he played a role in). Honestly I am not even sure I would call it seven tries, because Graoppolo and the above.
