Jerry has hired 8 head coaches in 35 years, only 3 had head coaching experience

4-5 years is about the maximum shelf life for any coach under Jerry...unless you were his hand-picked puppet like Garrett. And none of them except for Jimmy got an NFL HC job anywhere else after

Jimmy - 5 years
Switzer - 4 years
Gailey - 2 years
Campo - 3 years
Parcells - 4 years
Wade - 3.5 years
Garrett - 9 years
McCarthy - 5 years
I imagine a world where Parcell's stuck around a year or two longer, influenced Romo and the organization more, Jerry stood down, and and Bill picked his successor, being it Payton or someone else.

But instead we got Jerry and Stephen running the show.

I am not sure this gives us any clue for the next HC but it's interesting. Stephen was complimentary of MM a few weeks ago but made a point we haven't had the post-season success they had hoped. I wonder if that will still be a major priority.

The title is misleading.....He has hired 5 out of 8 with head coaching experience but not NFL coaching experience. 2 of them won Super Bowls

This simply isn’t true. Both Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer were long-time championship coaches in the NCAA prior to joining the Cowboys. Bill Parcells and Wade Phillips had multiple NFL head coaching jobs prior to joining the Cowboys, and both McCarthy and Parcells were Super Bowl winning Head coaches.

man im not even a Switzer hater but giving him credit for that SB is tough, he even gives the credit to Jimmy.

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, said, “I think there are five hundred people who could have coached this team to the Super Bowl”.....

problem is there was only ONE coach who could get the team to that level of play....i think the last 29 years have proved it....

I think Kellen Moore would make an excellent head coach. Nothing to do with Prescott. He’s lived football since he was a kid. It’s in his DNA. But he still won’t succeed here in Dallas. Until Jerry says hire your own coaches

Agree.

huge mistake letting KMoore walk.

Yep, Philly has been good to HIM.....now let's see if he's been good to PHILLY. Anyway.....he is our next HC and no way he simply be allowed to dismiss Barkley to go pass-happy.
PHIL won’t like it. can they block?

I’d guess KMoore is on our list. Jerry likes him.

MikeV probably going to Giants.

BillB would be a 2-4 year job only, due to his age.

BenJ going to Jax or LV?

A lot of guys don't have prior head coaching experience and I'm okay with that but I'm hoping the next one we hire knows not to ice his own kicker.

I'm guessing Philly is not going to bargain with KMoore.....why? As for MikeV, not so sure what the fascination is? We will not get Ben Johnson, my preference, but Jerry don't pay......Welcome Kellen Moore as the next HC.
