Jerry has no idea how to build a team

He still thinks it’s 1995 when the team was a constant in the playoffs and in Super Bowls. He also still thinks he’s going to live forever.

As long as he and his family run things that’s all we as fans will have. The past. I mean he literally just walked the red carpet where everyone kissed his *** about those teams of the 90’s. In his mind everything he’s done is wonderful.

It’s hopeless.

Here's the problem: Jerry is a fan. Jerry is an incredible salesman. Jerry is a successful businessman. Then add that he played some college ball. All that translates into being a horrible owner. He thinks he knows football and when Jerry was in his prime, sure, he probably knew enough but he also surrounded himself with good people (Jimmy). However, you take all the above and then surround yourself with "Yes Men" and we have the team we have now and have had for quite some time. Now, the game has certainly passed him by. Stephen is incredibly il qualified to do anything but get daddy a cup of coffee and he's the heir apparent. Good times for Cowboy fans, right?

The rift between him and Johnson seems to have been far more volatile than we had been led to believe. Johnson point blank, to his face, told Jones that his expertise when it came to coaching was virtually non-existent...and he wasn't wrong. What made it all work was Jones staying in his own lane while Johnson paved the other.

He simply won't let smarter men make the important decisions regarding coaches and players. He's what I call an institutionalized owner/GM. He will NEVER willingly let it go. He could no sooner do that than cut off one of his arms.

At least he admits it. But it seems he only half believes that it's a REAL problem.

Yes, Jerry cares about dollar signs. But as much as dollar signs he also cares about being RELEVANT. The two go together. Jerry has built a brand -- a team that hasn't been to the big dance in 30 years but still gets ratings. The networks love televising Cowboy games. To Jerry, that's all that counts.

Jerry 's carefully worded press conferences after each and every game, has loooooong ago left the station.

2026 is coming and more of the same. This franchise has already been eliminated from the 2026 season as it was in 2025 but my fellow Dallas fans mocked/ridiculed for stating the obvious.

Will McClay has been POOR the past 5 years. This team has zero depth and it is showing on the field.
This franchise has spent so much resources on OL / DL. And because of this, the secondary ( LB, CB and Safety) has really suffered.

Their success rate in acquiring legitimate oline talent mis led me into thinking they knew what they were doing.

You know, building a team from the trenches and all that.

But then they counter that by absolutely whiffing on all the d line players.
That convinced me that their oline procurement team is decent but they are absolutely poor at anything beyond that.

It's pretty much the same old story each and every year with Jerry making sure to getting his way but failing to make all the needed decisions to build a legit Super Bowl contender. It's the same old thing, year after year for decades, now. Such happenings over time might seem to become easily avoided in the future. Evidently, overly inflated egos just aren't subject to figuring things out. Excuses abound.

Sadly, Jerry and Stephen will always find ways to excuse their predictable incompetence, then proceed to repeat their obvious miscues in the decades to follow. Same old story: rinse and repeat. It's terribly heartbreaking to endure seeing a once great organization morph into such a predictable loser.
