So this happened today.

After already selling both sets of tickets for the remaining games after the Buffalo loss, I called the Cowboys this morning to cancel my "Pay as We Play" playoff plan for this season.

The way it works is, they send you playoff tickets for the wildcard/divisional round and as well as the NFC Championship game when you receive your tickets in the summer. Those tickets don't become active and charged to your credit card until they qualify for the playoffs.

When I called, they accommodated me, but not without a bit of mild pushback. It went something like this....

"Are you not going to be able to attend the games? You can always sell them online if you can't."

"No, I could attend, but I don't want to. Plus, with the short time span, the tickets are tougher to sell, and frankly, I don't think many Cowboys fans are going to want to go. Fans of the other team don't have the time to get plane tickets at a decent rate, so they're out unless they already live around here."

"So, you just don't want to go to a playoff game?"

"Right."

"Uh.....ok." (With a little "miff" in his voice.) I couldn't let that just go.

"None of us want to watch this team get ripped to pieces for $450 a ticket, no. And my chances of selling them for any profit above that are almost nil."

I could sense that there are a lot of us doing this. We don't have confidence in this team. We don't even really like this team. And the dysfunction of the organization as a whole is an embarassment to the fan base and DFW in general.

Jerry went off this morning, cussing like a drunken sailor. I have no doubt this is a small part of that. I hung up wondering if we could see a lot of empty seats that day, should they limp into a home playoff game.

So if you're wondering if we're being heard, I think we are.

We'll see. He chuckled when they asked him about fan apathy today on the radio.

Good for you?

he hears us through our silence and apathy (but we cant ever pull that off in significant enough numbers to matter)

Sadly, our outrage pays the bills as good as our praise

( PSL's already took care of the burden of ticket sales so thats irrelevant for jeri's lifetime )

Plus the other hundred or so events hosted at the stadium. Far outweighs 10 football games a year.

This is a start but a lot of fans would need to do this over a couple of seasons to get his attention.

Sponsors pulling out of deals is what gets Jerry's attention because that is big $$ he is used to and the true audience he kowtow's to.

There are many areas of life where protesting either yields results or at least brings awareness, but a few Cowboys' fans protesting will not be one of them.

For every ticket a Cowboys' fan doesn't buy, a fan of the other team will buy because the stadium is a nice destination and most non-Cowboys fans hate the Cowboys enough to travel to see their team play them, especially when they believe their team will win.

Cool thing is that someone probably already scooped up those tickets or will at some point before the next game.

good for you all though

Jerry needs to do a :

"Pay as soon as Garrett is fired."

I think a lot of people would be willing to sign up for that.

Playoff tickets not required of PSL holders may be the ONLY way to have some impact. At least force them to sell something.

A heavy visitor presence for a playoff game won't cost him anything, but it would at least be a mild embarrassment on the national stage.

There will still be opposing teams fans buying the tickets. He does not care.
