So Texas Tech thought it could do better? I'm baffled. Why was he fired?
They can do better. KK had a losing overall record, had losing seasons 4 out of 6 years, and his peak year was year 1 at 8-5. The big 12 is terrible, TT should be at least going to bowl games 75% of the time.

If he is so bad, why does USC swoop in and grab him? USC is a much better job than TT. It just makes no sense that he gets fired from a tier B football program and gets snatched up by a tier A football program.

Some guys that are great coordinators don’t make great head coaches. Look at Wade Phillips.

Surprised he took an OC gig. Wonder if he did that so he can be patient for the right HC job and leave USC when the opportunity presents itself.
Clay Helton is still the HC, but he's on a short leash after a 5-7 season.

There is talk Kingsbury may replace Helton at USC.

You also have to take into account recruiting. TT may not even be in the top-10 pipeline schools for Texas. Regardless, his ability to scout, develop and hone passers is proven. If nothing else, USC just got a great draw for future QB prospects. Kingsbury would have been great in Dallas because of his foil to Garrett. A meshing of the two systems could have been evolutionary to this offense.

No use crying now though.

That makes more sense, but if he can't make it work at TT...........how does he make it work at USC? Still baffled by all the praise and his hiring at USC.

Just the fact that Kingsbury was in the mix for a position with the Cowboys is encouraging to me.

It tells me somebody up high within the organization is starting to recognize the fact that this offense needs to be modernized.

It won't be Kingsbury. Hopefully it will be somebody else.

Then it's confirmed we'll take Murray.

Baseball player and Quarterback?

Yup, he's as good as ours.

we drafted/signed 3 in a 4 year span from 01-04. All of a sudden it's a pattern??

I really don’t understand the fascination with these short, running, spread QB’s. Such as Tua and Murray. I give you that they are accurate but in the NFL they will take a beating.
Murray is faster, has a better arm, and is roughly the same size as Russell Wilson.

Running a program at the college level goes way beyond X’s and O’s. There’s recruiting, dealing with donors, dealing with media, hiring your staff, managing the players themselves. Perhaps KK isn’t good at that stuff, but he’s good at X’s and O’s and player development for certain positions such as QB. And then there’s the possibility that he has a better reputation than he should and he gets canned after a year or two. Who knows.

Wouldn't work in the NFL. His quarterbacks don't even take snaps under center.

I would accept Lincoln Riley and draft Kyler Murray in the 3rd round though.
Murray a top 10 pick no doubt no hesitation, anyone that saw Lynch go in the first round via trade up would know Kyler will be long gone..hes at last as good but maybe tad better then Mayfield who went first overall, no way he goes past 10..
