Jerry Jones-backed Blue Star Sports, a Dallas-based software and payments provider for youth sports groups, has acquired Toronto-based Pointstreak Sports Technologies for an undisclosed sum.
The Toronto firm helps streamline the business operations for sports clubs (perhaps even the Dallas Cowboys) and serves customers in 23 countries. In 2014, Pointstreak was named among the 500 fastest growing technology companies in North America.
This acquisition enhances the offerings Blue Star Sports can give its now 8 million total users, of which, nearly 5 million users came from buying Pointstreak.
Blue Star CEO and founder Rob Wechsler said the technology will strengthen the Dallas-based company's ability to serve national governing bodies, sports leagues, clubs, athletes and fans.
"We aspire to empower sports organizations, enhance their business process, and also to improve participant and fan experiences," Wechsler said in a prepared statement.
Wechsler added that in doing research on Pointstreak, the Canadian firm was the leader in video solutions around the world.
