Great post, awsome insight and you make a great point, an owner can do whatever he wants with his business, hadn't heard that....... Hahaha, just kidding :) Can't wait for the game.

I've always agreed with this premise. It's his team. We itch and moan about poor contracts, like Ratliff for instance, like its our money. He's the one writing those checks.

Could you imagine buying 10 Lamborghini's and only getting to drive them a couple of times and then have to still keep making the payments??

Not the same.

Those players are paid for buy the money we spend on tickets, merchandise, concessions, parking.

It was reported last year that the jones family made thirty million in stadium tour sales. That is insane. Think about that. What other team has that extra 30 million from tours of the stadium they play in.

I am so tired of hearing about the risk owners take in pro sports. It seems like unless you own an NHL team at this point you will make a lot of money, especially when you buy the cowboys and inherited one of the biggest fan bases in the world.

I always tell people, you know how to make money as the owner of the cowboys? Make sure the doors are open ....because people are seemingly always looking for tickets, merchandise etc....

We could play at the cotton bowl with showers that do not work and if we were competing for the conference every season like New England it wouldn't matter, they would make a fortune.

Instead it's the opposite in Dallas, the entire reason for all the attention, the stadium etc is the football team but that is the element that always seems to be the part that Is just thrown into the marketing....

Yes he can. It used to be without a fan base you didn't make money. Now with revenue sharing they all make money off the TV, merchandise, stadium name rights, tax breaks, and seat sales. So they don't have to please their fan base as much altho for most they want to all the above. Then there is the winning aspect. One thing I can say with confidence is Jerry wants to win. There is absolutely no truth in he only wants to make money. He wants to make money and win. He just hasn't been very good about winning for awhile.

AH yes, the sanctity of private property! Of course, he wants revenues, he has to please his market. Unfortunately, 17 years of mediocrity and frustration haven't convinced that market to stop buying his product just yet. I guess the Dallas Cowboys are like the new tobacco--hard to quit, even though they kill you every season.

In other news, Jason Garrett is the head coach of this team.

He can cry if he wants to..

Arlington should use eminent domain to take over the team and let the parks dept head be the general manager of the Cowboys.

Have you heard his latest doozy? the guy is so ridiculous.

He said he wants the Cowboys to play the way they practice. Maybe the reason he sees th eoffense looking good in practice is because it's PRACTICE. Defense isn't trying to tear Romo's head off. The defense isn't going full speed. The aggression isn't 100%. There are no real game consequences during practice.

Good grief, this is the same STUPID mentality that RG3 had about his knee. He said he was ready to go because he'd done a few 7-on-7 drills and practices. It's NOT the same. Washington fans learned and saw that really quick.

I'm getting SICK of hearing Jerry Jones talk. Jerry Jones is the *ONLY* thing that could make me NOT want to be a Cowboys fan.

You mean community ownership? That might fly in Green Bay, but it ain't on the agenda in Texas, I'm afraid.
