Some people are getting all worked up over Aikman's comment on Romo as a QB.

I thought Jerry summed it up pretty well with these comments:

"I think he's (Aikman) being gratuitous and he's being modest. I've gotten three Super Bowl rings because of what he's about."

"I would say one thing, I think we agree on his assessment that Romo is a Super Bowl-caliber quarterback. But I have a little hard time making the same comparison he did."

To me, that sums it up just fine.

What does Jerry know about QBs? Chad Hutchinson, Drew Henson, Quincy Carter... :rolleyes:

You are leaving out these Gems...

Randall Cunningham, Ryan Leaf, Anthony Wright, Clint Stoerner,

Not to mention the over the hill gang of Testaverde and Beldsoe

What did everyone expect Aikman to say? "Romo is good, but I was better." LOL! Troy was just being gracious to Tony.

Aikman believes that Romo is a SB-caliber QB and I agree:)

The have been many SB-caliber QBs that did not make it to the big show. Will Tony get there? I don't know for certain, but I think he will. For all of us here, I sure hope he does...
:starspin

Does ANYONE here really believe Troy thinks Romo is better than him? Seriously?

tony romo is absolutely good enough to win a bowl.

troy aikman is in another universe though. you always felt like the game could be won, in any situation, against any team with troy aikman.

The point Aikman was making is that Romo can do things that Troy could not, i.e. make plays on the move, his escapability, etc.

Aikman was the most accurate passer I've ever seen and he was better as a pocket passer than Romo but there are a number of areas where Romo is clearly the better QB and that's what Aikman was saying.

I would also add that the talent surrounding Aikman during his best years was amazing. When he didn't have that level of talent he wasn't anywhere near as good. I would say that with comparable talent, Romo is the better QB but that's just my opinion.

Aikman = Jimmy
Romo = Parcells
Crap QBs = Jerry

Aikman would have been the pick regardless of who was coaching the team, whether it was Jimmy or had been Landry or anyone else. Plus Jimmy wanted and did use our supplemental first rounder on Steve Walsh, remember? There was a bit of a controversy there.

Romo = Sean Payton. Parcells had to be convinced.

Testeverde, Bledsoe = Parcells

Precise....

;)

I agree. Romo is clearly better than Aikman in facets of the game and vice versa.

Those were Parcells' "pet cats." Get it right.

Romo was a god send.

Parcells' biggest mistake was to take a waver on Drew Brees in order to keep Bleedslow.

We were very lucky to have Romo to bail Parcells out.

He knows something about 3 super bowls.;) Although, he's forgotten how in the last nearly 2 decades.

Give Romo that OL, Emmitt, Irvin and Novacek...I think it's fair to say he would have several more playoff wins and possibly even a SB appearance or two.

He doesn't know anything about QBs. He is just hating on Romo. Just like Jimmy, Norv, and Moose. :D
