"From my perspective, anything that follows the rules, that causes and creates more interest and more fan participation, I'm really for," Jones said. "So I'm a supporter and that's the rules that we'll test -- is put your money where your mouth is."

I apologize if there's already a thread on this. I looked for one because I really wanted to know what Zoners think of this. What I want to know is, is DraftKings like gambling? I honestly know nothing about it except I'm sooooo tired of all their commercials (along with FanDuel.) If it's gambling, isn't that a violation of NFL rules?

By definition, all fantasy played for money is gambling.

DraftKings and DFL's are a fad and won't last. People are already realizing and writing about how difficult it is to even win your money back. If Jerry wants to be a football man, he needs to keep his name away from anything associated with gambling.

Yes fantasy football where you can win money legally so yes it's sports betting and one has to wonder if the league is aware of what's at stake so every game needs to be competitive even with a little help from the yellow hanky

Jerry is in favor of money making schemes. Building an annually competitive NFL team? Priority number 27. It's 19 spots behind stadium revenue and 25 spots behind drinking.

You ain't kidding it's hard. The problem is you have professional gamblers out there that use multiple lineups...and I mean 100's of lineups. They use the same line up and switch out just one player. So It's like playing the lottery....and you cover every number. They key is you gotta have money to play that may times...and have one of your tickets hit it big.

If your just the average Joe six pack...and play just a couple of lineups....then you basically need to be perfect in order to win because there are so many players playing. Most people don't have the time or money to create that many lineups.

The NFL is all about gambling. Why do you think they require teams to publish injury reports and fine them or worse if they falsely report injury status? It's all about keeping Vegas and others happy.

I'm gonna disagree.....DraftKings and DFL's is just too big to fail. And when I mean "too big to fail"....I mean there is too much money being exchanged. I think your just seeing the tip of the iceberg....Much like the Texas Hold'em poker. I won't be shocked by next year or 2...Your gonna see contests where you could win 5 or 10 million dollars.

People said the same thing about poker....and every year 1000's of people poney up 10,000$ to go play in the world series of poker....even though they know their odds are horrible.

I'm thinking about what happened to Tony Romo over the summer...the cancelled fantasy football convention in Las Vegas. How is this different from what the NFL shut down on Tony? Is Jerry violating NFL policy here?

What I find very interesting is the fact that the NFL distances itself heavily when it comes to the idea of putting a team in Las Vegas. However, the NFL continues to push heavily their presence in the UK where gambling is legal. Up to three games a year now and the consistent rumor mill of Jacksonville possibly going there.

You should really know before you make comments. A fad? Uhhh, over 2 Billions dollars has been invested in DraftKings alone. Not counting JJ, investors include Walt Disney, MLB, ESPN, NHL, Kraft, Legends, Madison Square Garden, Google, NBA, Amazon, and too many more to name. Get used to it, DFS is here to stay. Just because you aren't any good, shouldn't kill it. Yep, call me a degenerate. LOL....I started with 30 bucks about 3 years ago, and I'm over 15K right now.

Talk is there is gonna be 16 games or a full season. Those Yahoo ratings were huge last Sunday for the Jags vs Buffalo streaming live. As a fan I like that there is football on all day.....

Perfect example. Texas Hold'em used to get primetime coverage on ESPN and Fox Sports. Just because it hasn't gone completely away, doesn't mean it hasn't faded. I didn't mean to insinuate DFS would completely die off, just that the huge usage statistics and all the ads would fade.

Once the govt cracked down and enforced the gambling laws the online poker craze died. They are going to do the same thing to DFS. The funny thing is that I was watching a poker tourney on ESPN and they all were wearing Draftkings ads just like the old PokerStars ads.

Now that I can see........And hopefully so. I wish I had just a percentage of what they have spent on advertising this year. And quite frankly...they need to spruce up the ads w/ some chicks. Watching 100 commercials a day w/ guys that look like they live in their moms basement...gets older than that Kenny Rogers " The gambler" commercial.:banghead:

It is gambling by any practical definition of the word. In fact, the Nevada State Gaming Commission has officially labeled it gambling, so they are (I believe) the first government entity to make that declaration official.

Draft Kings and Fan Duel are cutting into the Vegas take.
What do you think they are going to do. Sit with their thumbs up their butts.

It means less money into Casinos which translates to less state revenue.
