Jerry Jones deserves some credit in all this.

While reading through all of the trash/praise BP threads, I realized that we are finally in a position where no one is blaming Jerry Jones for our season. This alone is a huge victory for Cowboys fans and bodes well for our future.

We have respectability and accountability at the HC position and have had it for 3 years. Things haven't been perfect, but remember when we used to blame Jerry for hiring Larry, Moe and Curly as head coaches? Remember being owned by the Eagles year in and year out?

Not any more. Now we can blame/praise the coach because we have an owner that finally came to his senses and hired a real coach and let him coach.

While I'm frustrated/enraged about the kicking and OL play, I vote for giving BP one more year to right the wrongs on this team. I think most non-inebriated fans agree that we will be a better, more competitive team next year.

And we have Jerry Jones to thank for it for hiring a real coach....finally.

In our case, the coach makes the personel decisions and all the coaching decisions....I don't blame or credit Jones with anything over the past 3 years except hiring Parcells.

Bill Parcells is neither all wrong nor all right, but a combination of the two. Yes, he made some wrong decisions this year that cost him a playoff spot and I have some concerns about his ability to motivate people, but injuries had already limited how far this team could go in the playoffs, anyway - not to mention lack of a reliable kicker.

Still, this team is better than it was last year, has more depth and it's weaknesses will likely be addressed in the off-season, just as last year. With these injuries, last year's team probably would have folded much earlier and would have a losing record. I believe that if BP remains coach, next year's team will get into the playoffs and make some waves, but it will be harder to do because of the increased competition in the NFC East.

Changes, clearly, have to be made and the offensive side of the ball upgraded.

And get a kicker you can respect and respect him. Why browbeat him into a puddle of uncertainty and doubt? Get somebody good, pay him well and respect him and you'll probably get better results, especially when your game plan depends on a reliable last-minute kicker.

I do still hold Jerry Jones responsible for the poor drafts between 94-02. The backbone of today's team should have come from players drafted in those drafts. But all we have left are. Also don't remember name of MLB we had who was good but we couldn't afford to keep him because our cap was too high. Went on to start for 1-2 other teams & currently playing for Seattle.

94 - only Larry Allen
95 - nobody
96 - nobody
97 - nobody; think Coakley drafted this year but he's not hear anyway.
98 - Greg Ellis & Flozell Adams
99 - Dat (probably retires this year)
00 - anybody?
01 - anybody?
02 - Roy Williams & Gurode
03 - Newman, Witten, Bradie James, Johnson
04 - Julius Jones, Peterman (at least he still w/us), Jacques Reeves, Nat Jones, Patrick Crayton. Think we got Fowler, Thornten & somebody else but don't remember if they drafted or more probably undrafted FAs.
05 - Looks more promising then previous drafts in many years; real chance all these guys will stick with us for long haul.
