Jerry Jones' gamble on Barron

We all saw what an un-motivated un-caring Offensive Tackle can do to the final score last night. We all thought we got a good deal when we saw Bobby Carpenter shipped out of town for another first round draft pick at Tackle but Barron is worse than Carpenter in the fact that he doesn't seem like he even cares about the outcome of his pathetic play.

I'm just wondering if getting Barron is yet another symptom of having a GM that is also the owner.

Jerry Jones was an offensive tackle for the Arkansas team that won the National Championship back in the sixties and yet the positions he seems to have the least respect for draft wise is O-line. I don't understand it.

Now instead of working to get a top flight swing tackle for this "superbowl" bound team he pulls in the most penalized player in the league to back up Columbo who's poor play last year due to injury may have cost us a long playoff run. Beyond Barron the penalty machine we've got two extremely inexperienced Tackles.

Now I ask you guys.. The veterans and the members who know the history of our team...

Would Tex Schramm have gambled on Barron the penalty machine with a team as talented as this one or would he have properly prepared the Cowboys for the season?

I'll do you one better. Dallas has zero offensive line depth going into the 2009 draft.

Dallas has Phil Loadholt's name on a second round draft card and decides to trade out.

Loadholt starts his rookie year for the Vikings while Marc Colombo implodes at Minnesota.

Then, Colombo gets beat repeatedly in camp by Butler and Spencer and the Raiders' rookie makes him look terrible. Then, Colombo gets hurt again.

The Cowboys faith in Colombo after that Vikings fiasco is looking more dubious as time passes by.

I don't know why I had any hope in Barron.

He's bloody terrible.

Barron was the organization's answer.

What if Loadholt was playing RT last night instead of that pathetic excuse for an NFL linemen.

We had a chance to get Loadholt, AND we had him graded as a 2nd round pick, and traded out?

If that's true, it really, really stings.

We passed on Loadholt and missed Max Unger too but im not so upset with missing on Loadholt because while he is a nice talent he does have his share of holding penalties as well.

Plus I think we might've made up for it with Sam Young.

IMO he is a better player than Brewster or Barron right now.

Loadholt committed two penalties in the Vikings' game against the Saints, including a holding penalty that killed a drive inside New Orleans territory, which might have been the difference in a five-point defeat.

If we had drafted Loadholt, you'd have to double his stupid factor, and the results wouldn't be much better than what we got out of Barron.

Plus, Colombo is our starting right tackle if/when he is healthy.

What was the gamble? It cost essentially nothing to get him. Colombo is still the starter and Barron was probably not even going to be the back up except for the injury to Young.

Phil Loadholt Ol from Oklahoma in the 2nd Round. We had Offensive Line problems than and we still do. The Robert Brewster Pick in that Draft was not very good. I watched Ball State Games and they got rid of the ball so fast how could you really Grade him on pass blocking that lasted 2 seconds. Simply Amazes me what they really seen in him !!!

Barron is the stereo typical "I dont give a ---- athlete, as long as the checks dont bounce. Trouble is he that he lacks the ability to have that attitude.

Let's get one thing clear though. Jerry never gambled on Barron. He gave up Barbie Carpenter to get a backup offensive linemen. No one expected Barron to start for us at right tackle. No one. And I sure never envisioned him having to block Orakpo for the last play of the game at any point this year.

Damn I wish you would step outside of your flawlessly informed and level-headed persona and let us know how you really feel about this organization.

I think that was a bad deal but I think he wouldn't have made the roster had Young and Colombo been healthy IMO. I could see them putting young on the right side and slide Brewster to one of the guard positions in the future.

We all thought we won the Barron for Carpenter deal big time when Barbie got cut but it turns out we actually lost that deal and lost it big time. St. Louis was smart enough to cut their losses while Jerry was dumb enough to rely on a proven loser and it cost us a huge game against a division rival that just might set the entire season off on a very bad path. They now HAVE to beat one or two of Indy, GB, Minn, or NO to make up for that game. If not, they won't even sniff the playoffs.

Which Tex Schramm are you talking about? The same one that drafted All World talent like Phil Pozderac?
