During an interview with Dallas-area CBS affiliate KTVT on Saturday, Jones explained why the Cowboys just weren't interested.

"You've got to look at that in the context of our overall team," Jones said.

"We have not internally really evaluated Ray from the standpoint of what we would have to do if we had Ray on the team. Ray plays exactly the same position in everything that Bradie James does. Now, is that where you want to allocate your dollars, or allocate your emphasis?"

A lot of people believed Lewis was headed to the Cowboys, and a lot of people figured it would be a smart move for the team. But how much better would Lewis be in the Cowboys' 3-4 than Brooking? And for about $6 million more per season?

The whole him playing the same position as Bradie Jame is why I don't know why people were so gung ho to do this. Get James a partner not a replacement.

Yeah, and thats what Jerry was trying to get across. To sign Ray would have meant getting rid of Bradie and they still needed to fill the other inside position with a guy like Brooking. I don't see whats not to understand.

Bradie James is playing better football now than Ray Lewis.
