Jerry Joes was once a great GM, as proven by his tenure in the early 1990s.
That was when he was in charge of everything from jocks to socks.
It was then that he hired in 1989 a genius for that time, Jimmy Johnson.
And let's look at his curricula vitae: No one gets into the HOF for no good reason.
But, yes, over the next 22 years he hired a succession of never do wells, has-beens and goofs such as Wade Phillips. Yes, he let his ego take over --- in the draft, player acquisitions, cap issues and trying to coach.
But yet he helped revolutionize the NFL. He is respected as an owner but not yet as a GM.
Blokes, one of these days, when he gets a top 5 defense and a credible passing offense, he will again be at the top of the world, as an owner AND GM.
Yes, then we will hail him as a great GM with more than 3 Super Bowl championships.
