Jerry Jones' oddly familiar comments all but confirm Cowboys will fire Mike McCarthy

The question for me isn't whether MM will get fired but whether the Cowboys will actually upgrade. How many top tier candidates would want to work for the Jones Klan?
MM is actually a good coach. He has nothing to work with this year. Belichick, Shanahan, Harbaugh would all get the same results.

When you’ve only got 1 legit weapon on offense and defense had no depth to begin with and a bunch of defenders get hurt, this is what happens.

I agree he should be let go after the year because there needs to be more of a ground and pound attack and a coach the players are afraid of (if that can exist today).

But it’s not 100% you’ll get an upgrade. Vrabel is my realistic top choice. He had the mind of Belichick and has taken a dominant run game to a conference championship.

It would be very hard to not get an upgrade. McCarthy is an offensive coach. Even before Dak got hurt we ran a preseason offense. There is literally nothing creative in his offense. He doesn't challenge the defense. He doesn't make the defense defend the entire field. His clock management is awful. His play calling is average at best and sometimes just down right awful. Can't for him to be gone.

Find me the personnel on this team that would make the play calls look great.

Hes run the Orbit motion. He’s had WRs in backfield. He’s had crossers but the players don’t always run the right routes.

When you can’t run it the defense can flood the zones. Daks taken a step back physically and the supporting cast isn’t very good.

The only way to succeed IMO is building a dominant run game that doesn’t need Dak to be at the top of his game

McCarthy was never an elite Head Coach Yes, he won the Super Bowl in 2011. He deserves the accolades that come with that. However, much like the 90s Cowboys with Jimmy Johnson, that roster was put together by a great football man, Ted Thompson. McCarthy was awful his last few years in Green Bay, His work ethic was questioned, and he was called out, if not exposed, by his players.

Green Bay was instantly better with first-time head coach Matt LaFleur, 13 wins the first year after McCarthy.

McCarthy has been clueless against good teams (12-20 against playoff teams in 4 years, not counting this year).

Still not sure? Look at his salary. How many Super Bowl-winning coaches would accept a contract that puts him bottom 5 in the league?
