First of all, he caught 4 out of 10 targets for 63 yards and no touchdowns. I think every CB in the league would take that stat line against Dez. Second, he wasn't coming off of a six week hiatus. Lastly, Romo was throwing him the ball. Dez is an amazing receiver, but expecting him to come back and dominate a Richard Sherman in his first game, with Cassell throwing the ball, may be expecting a bit too much.

You would expect them to line him up vs Cary williams but never know with this coaching staff

That "illegal trip" was probably the worst penalty call of the season last year, including Dez' catch.

He reached out to tackle him with his hand and got called for tripping. Still have no clue what the referee was thinking on that.
I didn't get that either. How can someone on defense be called for tripping when trying to make a tackle?

Dez owned sherman last season. I remember one play sherman actually had to illegally trip dez to stop a TD

Defined "owned".

Dez was targeted 10 times, had 4 receptions for 63 yards, and 0 TDs against the Seahawks.

He was below his 2014 per game averages in all 3 categories.

Note: I am not saying Dez played bad by any stretch of the imagination, however, this is one of those days where I am feeling the need to challenge folks on terminology.... :D

Owned??? I think that's overstating it a bit. I thought it was an even matchup. Dez only caught 4 of 10 targets for 63 yards - i think he drew 1 PI on Sherman as well.

Sorry just saw this or I wouldn't have posted the above similar post.

Did you watch the game? The Panthers tore right through that vaunted defense on that final drive. Why? Because they aren't elite anymore.

Four catches for 63 yards because Dallas ran the ball so well. If they had to air it out he would've had a much bigger day. Sherman couldn't handle Dez's size.

I say again, Cam Newton. The DB's still shut down the outside guys, which I know isn't saying much considering who Carolina has out there... Their second leading receiver was their #2 TE with 2 receptions.

Four catches out of 10 targets. I'd say he handled it about as well as could be expected. It's easy to play the woulda, coulda card. The fact is, Dez did not manhandle Sherman like some here are insinuating. Anyway, my argument wasn't that Dez can't put up numbers on Sherman, it's that I wouldn't expect him to come out and have a huge game against Sherman after missing five games with Cassell throwing him the ball.

Give me Dez on any 1 on 1 against Sherman; fade pattern or any throw "up for grabs" that's not thrown out of bounds, just about any pass that is even moderately accurate.

I would take that 90% of the time too. The 10% I probably wouldn't, is Dez coming off missing 5 games due to inury with Cassell as the QB.

I doubt it. If I was a Seattle fan I wouldn't feel good about this game especially if Dez plays because of what's been a horrible fourth quarter defense, they haven't been nearly as good overall as previous years, and their offensive line has been a disaster this season.

Yeah the run defense stunk in the first half, but they cleaned it up in the second half. Seattle ran it well the last few weeks, but other than they've struggled just as much as Dallas had if not more.

As a huge Cowboy fan I am worried about the Seattle game and am fairly pessimistic about it. I don't want to be but with the way we have played against the Saints and the Giants in the 4th quarters of both of those respective games it's pretty much wait till Dallas beats themselves. Also I fear Lynch is going to run all over us.

Getting Dez would be a huge boost but Seattle still has a good defense and Dallas can't take the ball away or stop the run game. No takeaways and stopping the run is what I am most scared about in this game.

Hopefully I am wrong, I've been wrong a lot before so hopefully this is one of those times.
