ok i typed this fast, so spelling and wording might not be precise, but i think you can tell what was said;

Tim calishaw was on show too;
Not sure how to spell his name but the dallas morning news sports writer;

Free agency; change and continuity question;
I think you can be excited and igor is a terrific addition, at right price to help us to replace canty, paraphrasing, with wade coaching him, we know what he can do, possibly with Marcus Dixon we can have a heck of a rotation And brooking, adds more too,

T O question why; facts are terrrell played a leadership role, and great role model, boiled down to and I had ot look at roy Williams at wr, and emphasize tony romo to make it more romo friendly so to speak, spread the ball around, iseveral of those players were in here even last week improving and with chance of miles Austin to really show somethign, and to move that ball around, and use bennnett too with felix and choice with barber to move ball around, so I got all kinds of input on this with everything in mind and that we must get younger players on the field

Divide aftermath after release of T O; you know im not thinking that, again paraphrasing here, its been kind of opposite, motivational thing in a positive way, and show your committed to winning and uh, lets get on with the work

Outsider looking in, players taking advantage of team concepts question, that’s a fair question; i was told by our pro personnel people you could have 2 high productive players in roy and T O, but what if you have other players like austin, barber, felix, benett etc. that can be productive and want to be part of a winning team and how many balls you have to go around and look at our future with a pro bowl qb and backing him up with kitna, with like what happened last year with a backup QB injury like we had last year, that cant happen again as backup qb

T O runs the way he does and scares teams, but at end of day, I talked about it with wade, other teams, and our pro people and went another direction

No we called drew and T O on the phone, i initiated that, lets talk and at that time Drew Rosenhaus and T O didn’t know what we were thinking till we got there and talked This move makes romo more romo friendly, ive been told if you have 2 great wrs, its more romo friendsly but I do believe at tony options in where to go, is in direction and see development of miles Austin and give roy Williams chance to be dominant wr he can be, and rest assured at top of my decisions after listening to everyone that i valued their opinioin this was best for tony romo to spread the ball around and get more people involved and get younger on the team.

Questions with releasing adam jones, T O, tank, are you going towards locker room concept of having team leaders and good work attitude and deisre etc, NO, I didnt think that way to me I think igor is a very compliment to canty, brooking gives us a guy that can go 3 downs and replace zach thomas, and kitna on his own can win a ball game, we saw that, I think it shouldn’t be viewed as locker room guys like you are stating, but zach Thomas does same thing and I don’t know we didn’t do anything there as locker room situation as I have been criticized for not doing that

I know that came up after some losses and our qB injured, I hear that and I listen to that

Is it a risk to cut T O,
no, its all risky; we started with 13 pro bowlers, and best team to go to superbowl, but real world is veterans tailing off and injuries, so I don’t view as real risky situation, towards where we have to go with the ball along with injuries if some come up that you arent prepared for

Is jerry jones spread too thin with new stadium,
someone told me once, always be understaffed and you’ll never see who your heroes are, one of jerry jones comments

The facts are the way we operate doss have many plusses, and something’s I haven’t done since I’ve been gm, but we have had 5 coaches, etc, its ups and downs and I understand the criticism and with dealing with other clubs, you inject another moving piece,

Player evaluation question; with 9 picks, what main area of need from player personnel standpoint, I signed Gerald safety, and our special teams coach coached him and there is you a safety and gives you some flexibility, and allows you to move a corner, etc,

We are in good shape and do what we did last year, let the board fall and get the best player, off the board
We left our options open to get the best players available in the draft.

Thanks joe.

This is one time when Jerry's babbling in circles came in handy. He was protective of TO and made sure he didn't trash him at all, but at the same time you got the message that there was no way to spread the ball around the way we want to with TO on the team.

He sounded pretty excited about Igor, too. He mentioned him more than he did Brooking or the other FAs, or Kitna.

Back to TO, I hadn't heard about how the meeting with TO went down. They basically went to Miami and called Rosenhaus and told him they were in town and needed to meet and talk, without telling him what it was about. I can only imagine Trader Drew's face when he heard the news in person. :eek:

thanks guys, what surprised me, was when jerry jones mentioned marcus dixon, as possible rotation,

so maybe they see something in him;

yes, i got the drift too that jerry was glowing over igor, now at same time, dont get to enthusiased over Igor, what he is and i watched some tape of him, he is a big run defender, but not real quick and somewhat slow afoot

im not knocking on him, you just dont run against him from what i could tell and Igor does tie up 2 blockers when pass rushing, thats what he is suppose to do as a DE, so the linebackers, safeties can get to the QB

and Igor plays with heart from what i could tell

i think also from what jerry said, the cowboys are planning on using felix and choice alot more too and they should, at same time jerry expects alot from Roy Williams to be a super wr that he can be and that miles austin will break out this year

yep, jerry jones was sure not to put T O under the bus

and yes, i bet drew rosenhaus jaw dropped when jerry jones showed up with stephen

also theese moves of the new safety gerald, Igor, Brooking, Kitna, enables the cowboys to take the best player on the board when they draft, thats very important, take what is there, and dont reach for a player,

He's so hard to listen too. Sooo Jerry fired our leader?:lmao2:

I understand what he is doing when he is injecting all the 'uhh's into his speech. One of the first things they teach you in public speaking is to not go 'uhh.' Essentially, it is a filler for when you need to pause and collect your thoughts on an issue. I personally was taught to simply pause and not utter anything. It makes you sound a heck of a lot more intelligent.

OTOH, its just a matter of appearance. One benefit of listening to someone who talks like that is it is very easy to tell when he is picking his words carefully. For example, when he was talking about the reason for releasing TO, every thrid thing he utters is an 'uh.' It is very obvious that he doesnt want to say something wrong. You see this a lot when you are dealing with someone who is trying to say something that they do not really think. Not that that is necessarily the case here, BTW.

He contradicted himself anyway when he said that cutting TO sends a message to other players about buying into teamwork anyway.

I think this is pretty telling. I confirms that Jerry sees T.O. as being on the decline, and that is not Romo-friendly (Jerry's words) to not spread the ball around. So basically, we can safely conclude that Jerry truly believed that T.O. still overestimates his talent and Jerry feared having another year of the Romo-hoarding WR taking away from the development of other prmising players, and in turn, the good of the team. FINALLY Jerry hints at his perceprion of T.O.'s me-only attitude and selfishness and wanted nothing more to do with it. Bravo Jerry, for making the bold, right move! :clap:

Sounds like Austin is going to get every chance to be a starter opposite Roy Williams.

I think there is no chance of signing Holt now after listening to Jerry.

Who was it last year...maybe hanson or galloway that alluded to Romo saying people are going to be surprised by a WR and later it was revealed that they were talking about Austin.

Of course austin had an injury during the season so that curtailed things some.

So it would appear they were high on Austin last year and continue to be high on him.

Hopefully it pans out.

It should always be that way. There is never any reason to reach.

Todd Archer mentioned it an email to me back in 07 to be on the lookout for Austin. Not sure what the original email was about, but I know that the guy loves him some Miles Austin.

I would think that too, except for the fact that Jerry rarely sticks to what he says in interviews.

Please leave the old used up players in FA alone. We need to see what our young guys can do.....football is a young mans game.

Austin and Crayton will be fine, don't panic and sign someone we don't need. If you want to add another WR then please add someone that is young and able to help us for many years.

And please, no more THUGS. I thought we made some progress this off season until yesterdays SS signing....this was a major step backward in terms of character and team chemistry.
