Unreal.
I always thought the goal of an offensive line was to help win games.
Apparently their main function is to protect an expensive investment.
Not at #44 but I would definitely look his way in the third. This tells me the Cowboys might be eyeing taking Texas DT, Alfred Collins, with their 44th pick if Schottenheimer is serious about "playing physical on both sides of the line of scrimmage."
What about late 50s or early 60s late in Round 2 after a trade down? Not at #44 but I would definitely look his way in the third.
Fine with that. He isn’t Grant or Nolen but should be a good rotational player to help with the run defense. What about late 50s or early 60s late in Round 2 after a trade down?
Doesn't matter who your RB is if you can't block for him. They seem to be trying awfully hard to convince us that they made the right decision at pick #12.
Successful GMs and coaches could care less what fans think. They wouldn't tell us they made the right choice. They would show us if they hadn't already been successful before.
Here is a question:
What is Jerry and/or Stephen going to do over the next 2-4 seasons as each of these 1st round picks expect to get paid even if they do deserve it.
Either way, it's over in a matter of a few years. You want to keep your successful 1st round picks but when 3 to 4 players eat half the cap or play the same position then value has been wasted.
There has to be a balance. The majority of good O-lines have a few 1st and 2nd round picks, some lower round picks and perhaps even an undrafted player. They have different salary expectations unless they make a Pro Bowl or All-Pro selection.
There is another question:
Who will this emerging dominant unit be run blocking for? If you think that player is coming tomorrow then you can blame yourself for the bitter disappointment that follows.
One is coming.........I was hoping for that when we drafted Beebe to put between Smith and Martin. Of course, Martin was finished at that point. If we want to power between the tackles, we should have the OL horses for it now. Not sure we have the RBs for it yet. Williams is a power runner, but is the OL pick worth another half-yard on his average? If so, I'll take 4.2 per carry. Otherwise, we need a runner to take advantage of this line.
A motivated Nolen would have elevated the D Line.
Yeah Collins will be inconsideration. Good call AC. Lots of quality players at 44 should be still available. This tells me the Cowboys might be eyeing taking Texas DT, Alfred Collins, with their 44th pick if Schottenheimer is serious about "playing physical on both sides of the line of scrimmage."
Would be a great pick tooThis tells me the Cowboys might be eyeing taking Texas DT, Alfred Collins, with their 44th pick if Schottenheimer is serious about "playing physical on both sides of the line of scrimmage."
you beat me to it. Absolutely, its a status symbol type thing with Jerry. He could've easily said "you can never have too many guys to protect your QB". But he has to remind people he has a player thats amongst the highest paid ever. In some sick way, I think Jerry counts this as a win in life.Jerry just loves reminding everyone we have the highest paid player on our team. So we must be great.
When you can stand up right next to Jerry, step on up...you beat me to it. Absolutely, its a status symbol type thing with Jerry.
