he must have Choice traded already

Running back Phillip Tanner carried the ball only four times, but it was enough to get him noticed. He gained 31 yards, and that didn't count the touchdown he had called back

He's shown up," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. "He's shown up since Day One. A guy who hasn't been with us in the off-season and is really just learning the offense right from the start of camp, he has really picked it up, both as a runner and as a pass protector and as a receiver. He has a knack for playing, good instincts, and he has shown that every opportunity he has gotten."

Tanner might not be finished in Dallas He has done enough to merit consideration for the practice squad if not the 53-player roster

Choice participated in one practice before a calf strain, and Murray has yet to practice because of a hamstring injury he suffered before training camp began.

Tanner could very well end up on the PS. He is probably going to see fewer opportunities in the next pre-season game with the return of Murray and the starters probably playing a half this game.

I don't know why anyone thought we would keep more than 3 unless you count someone on the paractice squad.

I assumed they'd only keep three. Talk of four was just silly. Surely Garrett sees the same in Tanner than the rest of us do and realizes that Choice is likely to give him the same production as he has in the past--near zilch. This doesn't seem so hard to figure from where I sit.

Not for long.

With the Cowboys' luck, they'll trade Choice and he'll light it up somewhere.

I still think we will keep Choice as Tanner is too raw right now.

Choice will be traded to Buffalo...to play for his college coach...I bet we get a 5th for him.

Choice very well could make the team however one strike on him is he does not play special teams. If Tanner continues to make strides at RB and within special teams then I could see Choice not making it. As a 3rd back you’re not going to see much action as a runner so you increase your value by contributing on special teams

I was hoping they would.

Felix and Choice are the only guys with any experience.

Murray isn't going anywhere.

Tanner looks really good, probably too good right now to make it to the practice squad.

I don't want to get rid of Choice but I also don't want to see Tanner go.

I think the problem is easily addressable. Keep the best FG kicker and move on. I'd even consider letting McGee have the #2 job and letting Kitna walk.

Tanner laid a hit on a PR the other night.

I cannot see him making it to the PS.

They have F-Jax and Spiller, so why would give up a 5th for Choice? I could see see them picking him up if he's waived.

Why is Jerry Jones publicly stating how many players at a certain position the Cowboys are going to keep? I thought he had ceded such responsibilities to Jason Garrett....

I would like to see him run with the first team O line

Phillip Tanner should make this team, because he will get snatched off the PS.

I might even keep Tanner over Choice because we all know Choice is outta here after next year anyway, maybe sooner. So why risk losing Tanner when you can keep him for the future now?

I agree but I also do not see 4 RB making the team. I like Choice I think he has some good skills but as a 3rd RB I think what may end up hurting him is he can't offer anything in special team and it is hard to keep 3rd string players on the active roster and not contribute in some fashion.

I would sleep well at night if we lost Choice especially if we got a pick for him.

Felix looks beastly and i think it's easy to find someone productive at the RB position in today's league, especially if he's your no. 2 or 3 guy.
