Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed confidence Friday that Tony Romo (collarbone) will play in Week 16 against the Cardinals.
Asked if Romo will be ready, Jones replied "In my opinion, he will be. I want to do anything we can to win those games. (The decision) will be based on what gives us the best chance to win.

He also said this: "And, when he’s ready to go, he’s going to be ready." Why did you choose to leave that part out?

I doubt that playing a rusty Romo on the road vs the team that broke his pinky 2 years ago is very wise or gives us the best chance to win. I second jobberone's opinion.

LOL and if he isn't ready he wont be.

Because it is redundant and superfluous, like most of Jerry's statements.

He didnt say he'd definitely play, and left open the possiblity that Kitna might play even if Romo claimed he were 100%

He didnt say anything I hadnt already assumed. If Romo is 100%, they have confidence in the OL and he looks good in practice, he'll probably play. If not, he probably wont.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to play Romo if he's able so he doesn't enter next season with any rust. He only played 5 full games this season and he won't be playing much in preseason next year.

I would put him in there so he can get back in the groove and try and get another win under his belt. The Cowboys need to be winning games with him at QB not Kitna. If the Cowboys continue winning under Kitna this season and finish strong and Romo gets off to a slow start next season it could create some controversy at QB.

There's a love/hate amongst most Cowboy fans with Romo. If he can play he has to show that he can keep this ship straight with him at QB.

Jerry seems to be twitching a little bit recently. He was so silent when Wade was screwing up...forever. But now that a competent coach has taken charge, Jerry feels the need to speak out a little bit more. Interesting.

Jones says Romo could return

Jerry Jones said Friday that quarterback Tony Romo’s broken collar bone is healing as expected and that if Romo is healthy, he could play in the final two games of the season.

The Dallas Cowboys’ owner said the decision to play Romo or backup Jon Kitna will be based on one thing:

"What it really boils down to what gives us the best chance to win the games,” Jones said. “I’m going to do anything we can to win the game. Everything. Pull no stops out to win the ball game.”

Jones did stop short of saying Romo would definitely play if healthy - particularly since Kitna has a 3-1 record in the last four games.

“What are your thought on the best way to win,” Jones said. “Is the guy who’s been winning all the games and really in the flow of things or a player we think is our starter coming in but a little bit rusty? That is a very legitimate exercise right there and we’ll be going through that.”

heck...play both of them in last game against eagles. Who ever gives us the lead...plays more. I had a dream romo came off the bench on last game and beat eagles for heart breaking loss...and phillys has to go on road for playoffs and loses in first round. D. Jackson blows up in offseason and demands trade....Vick signs with another team...and the earth is back on its axes.

:laugh2: I guess Garrett is through giving him "commands".

Jerry, to me, did not seem certain Romo would play.

I get the feeling if we beat Philly and Jon still sharp, he will finish the season, whether Tony is completely healed or not.

I got no problem with that. Better luck next year, Tony.

Once again, glaringly absent from any of Jones' big mouth statements.

"IT WILL DEPEND ON THE COACH'S DECISION"

Thanks again coach Jerry.

What an absolute ego maniac.

"I will do", Jones says. "I will do". Who is making these decisions? Coach Jerry?

Why? Because if they broke his pinkie once, they'll obviously do it again?

Not really sure I understand why playing a rusty Romo against Arizona would be any worse than playing a rusty Romo against Philadelphia, Washington, etc.

Or maybe you just threw that in for impact.
