LA looked slow last night and no blow up blocks that I seen........we got the best out of LA

gotta agree with you CC..... he missed on a LOT of blocks and I didn't see him blow up many either!!!!

He pulled an awful lot!

I saw the same Larry Allen as we saw the last few years.

Unathletic, awful in space, top heavy...if you get in the guy's way, he'll still blow ya up...other than that, he's lost.

Great Great player who, IMO, started to decline in the Campo years when no one stopped him from bulking up to a point that it took away all his mobility and flexibility.

we have a winner!!!! I like LA a lot but it was time for him to go.

Before his injury, Frank Gore was called perhaps the best back ever to play at Miami -- a list that included Clinton Portis, Edgerrin James, and Willis McGahee.

I don't understand why everybody's so surprised to see him succeed.

Good point, in fact the only reason McGahee got his chance to start in 2002 was because Gore went down to a knee injury for that year in practice before the season started.

Oh, and by the way, after the 2.5 mill loss On Vandershank, I bet Jerry sleeps much better that he did not pay LA 7 mill for production that would have not been much, if any, better than what we have had from Kosier.

I agree.

He wasn't all that great. The guy could barely move.

He really can only play in a confined space. If he gets his hands on you or if he's just a short distance away where he can extend his hands, then you're going on the ground.

But he also whiffed a few blocks too last night.

I'm glad he was a Cowboy, but he's on his last leg. And even some of the 49ers fans are ready to see him retire.

I read your post after I had written my own. We saw (and are saying) the same thing. :)

Very evident as last nights game. Hard to get 2 pound legs to move a 300 pound body. Add in the age factor, he's average. When he feels like it.

Someone mentioned JJ's vision and that is correct. I saw a play where JJ burst through the middle of the line, once he did this was what I saw. I saw a guy in front of him 5 yards or so, a guy on his left 7 yards or so, and no one to his right. So what does JJ do? he runs straight into the guy up the middle.

Runners can not do this. When you have an opportunity to get through the first line of defenders, it's up to you to run to day light, find the opening from there.

9 times out of 10, what the average fan sees as "daylight" would close up within an instant if the back made the cut there.

In the NFL, it's usually better to put your head down and get what you can than to dance around from side to side and end up with little or nothing. Running around like a chicken with its head cut off works in high school and college and occasionally against some NFL defenses, but it won't prolong your drives or give you consistent success. You'll hit a couple home runs and get stuffed a lot.

So how is it that despite losing his "vision" and "running straight into piles," Jones is having the best year of his career, including achieving his longest run from scrimmage (by far) and his best ypc average, and setting a new personal best for 20+ yard runs in a season through 13 games?
