"First of all, we might have a little difference as to what we were lacking the most. It is very common, matter of fact the rule, that when you look at a coming season, you've got some soft spots. In a football team. Or in a any team I think. So it's a question of, where do your resources, where do they need, the areas that need the most attention." "And candidly I thought in Zeke that we really had an opportunity. I know that, how badly he wanted to get back with the Cowboys. I personally thought that his work there in New England was better than maybe a lot of other people evaluated it. I thought he did carry the mail in some critical times for them." "...I have more belief that Zeke gives us what we need in our short yardage than maybe a lot of fans do."

All hail the greatest GM in NFL history, the savior of Dallas, NO ONE can do it better than Jerry Jones.

So basically he's saying we needed to use our resources elsewhere and Zeke is good enough, should at least be an improvement in short yardage/goal line.

Funny I just watched a clip of Jones cutting Amendola yesterday. I'll put that one behind Jimmy Smith though.

This is the problem of your football team when the owner/GM is a Fan and or friend with a player, it clouds his judgement making decisions about players on the team, Zeke should have NEVER been resigned by this team..
Exactly.

I like how he highlighted short yardage as a point of emphasis. Hes right in that regard, Zeke will upgrade our short yardage situations, but thats not the reason to pass on a superior back and bring back a guy the rest of the league passed on.

Jerry obviously didn’t take a technical writing course at Arkansas. I did and the objective was to convey the most information with the fewest words. He could’ve simply said “Dak needed his bud and he was cheap.”
