I think we've said this all along It was a little sad to see him go he was a great talent but there were reasons he's gone and the main one is he forced the trade He turned down what was a fair contract something like other guys have not he's the only drafted superstar that Jerry's not kept the only one that he's traded and not gave that first big contract to..

It is what it is we saw it unfold We get both sides where equally responsible for the drama that went on But the stuff that Parsons and his agent did was unacceptable and unprofessional they did it on purpose they faked injuries the stuff that was going on on the sidelines and the attitude it just was unacceptable..

You watch a guy like Prescott who deserved an early deal should have got early deals both times had to wait on his money never said a word Just went about business as usual went to every practice even practices that weren't even official he had people working out at his house, Guess what in the end he stuck it to Jerry hard but very quietly it's called being passive aggressive he wasn't gonna take a single penny less than he wanted but he played by the rules and he showed his loyalty and Jerry pays for loyalty..

What Parsons did demanding a trade even if at the time it was just being aggressive trying to get a deal It it was all the things that happened after this stuff in social media the letters it is what it is it gets it was sickening to see and that is only reason I'm glad he's gone..

And that was at that time in the moment I see why Jerry was fed up even Jerry had enough jerry doesn't usually get fazed by drama but in this case I was happy right when they got rid of him,

And now in the end you see all the things that they got for him and what they were able to do with the team it solidifies the fact that it was better for both sides they both basically won this trade it was a tie they got what they wanted.

Now we can move forward..

not saying this isn't true but one thing that we all have to remember is that "We" don't know what they know. they should have had the same concerns about signing him to a record deal as many of us did but they also had seen him up close for years. their concerns may have been more than ours. watching how a player handles the negotiation phase right before getting a fully or largely guaranteed life changing contract is a good final piece of information. obviously the way he handled the situation once the handshake deal fell thru helped convince them to move on but we don't really know how concerned they were before that so perhaps letting the contract situation drag out a little was in part due to them not being completely sold on the idea to begin with.
 
I am constantly shocked by the amount of Jerry boot-lickers on this forum.

He is so happy, he doesn't even need to win another Lombardi. It's like he already has.....
 
I have absolutely loved this trade from day 1.

I hate that we had to sacrifice Parsons but I personally believe that its time to finally solidify the interior defensive line.

Yes yes, im fully aware that Edges are more "valuable" but I personally value establishing the foundation first

Im beyond done with watching our line get run on with impunity
 
Would we expect Jethro to say anything else ?

He knows he bundled the greatest talent on his second contract in Cowboys history.

Never before have we not resigned a perennial All Pro to a second contract.
 
And if we rebound from such an embarrassing last ditch effort from a failed renegotiation then we can only credit Parsons his value delivered .

That’s true.

But then if you’re doing a breakdown of a trade. You would have to say.

The cowboys traded away: Micah, a first round pick and a 2nd round pick.

The cowboys received: Quinnen Williams, Kenny Clark, Malachi Lawrence, Lt Overton, Devin Moore, and whoever the first round pick is next year.

Not negotiating with the agent was a mistake.

Dragging out the negotiation and letting other teams set the market and driving his price up was a mistake.

Not coming to terms with a generational talent was a mistake.

Trading him when they traded him was a mistake bc of its proximity to the start of the season and the fact the negotiation was a giant distraction for the team, and since FA was over, we had zero opportunity to even try and replace Parsons

It doesn’t matter what they thought of him, they badly flubbed handling the situation throughout the process

We have come out well all things considered, but it’s hard to claim we “won” a trade when the fact there had to be a trade at all is a colossal failure
 
I’ve talked to many coaches, ex coaches and players I’d usually entrust their opinions and none believe we handled the negotiations well.

If trading Parsons was our intention then we should have done so early on in Free Agency in order to recoup his full value while having an opportunity to replenish thru draft, etc

The last ditch trade in 11th hour limited the teams who could have got into a bidding war and basically derailed our defense which as a result derailed the season wasting one of the best seasons with Dak and a top 5 offense .

With an aging QB with injury history that hasn’t played consecutive seasons healthy in 10 years you just can’t waste. Total mismanagement!!

Now the fact we are in a position to rebuild and possible recover is due to the value Parsons delivered .
