Jerry Jones would write 'embarrassing' check for title

The Dallas Cowboys have won three Super Bowls during the Jerry Jones era, but none since 1996. Twenty-two years is a long-enough wait for Jones, who said Tuesday that he wouldn't hesitate to part with a sizable sum to win another title.

"It would be embarrassing, it would be shocking if you knew the size of the check I would write if it guaranteed me a Super Bowl," Jones told Shan and RJ on 105.3 The Fan. "It would be obscene. There is nothing I would do financially not to get a Super Bowl."

Jones clarified that in the age of salary-capped free agency, a team's "financial" situation doesn't come into play when building a Super Bowl-contending roster, unlike in international soccer or baseball. But that investment into certain areas of the organization can make it "more attractive" to prospective players. (See: Jerryworld and The Star.)

Jones' big-buck boast comes in light of an anecdote from author Mark Leibovich's upcoming book, Big Game, in which Jones tells Leibovich he wouldn't trade his Hall of Fame gold jacket for another Super Bowl title.

He wouldn't trade his gold jacket or his job title for a SB, but he would write a big check. Thanks, Jerry!!
Tells you all you ever need to know about Booger's commitment and where his priorities lie. His jacket and him being seen as the architect behind winning a SB is more important than actually winning it. Personal triumph over team triumph.

Egotistical maniac. Probably kin to Emperor Nero who reportedly fiddled while Rome burned.

What a complete football embarrassment Jerry has become. ESPN and DMN both had articles today quoting Jerry (in a drunken state) when asked if he would trade his HOF ring for another SB ring he slurred “No”. Yeah, I know he said he would “write a check” to win another one but, writing checks for championships is dead because of the salary cap.

This is reason number 3,000+ why this guy is a complete joke when it comes to being an NFL GM. So Jerry is “satisfied” with his three rings he won in the 90s? I’m trying to imagine a single NFL owner in this league besides JJ that would hire a GM who isn’t absolutely consumed with winning another SB. Is there a current GM in this league that is this satisfied?

That is a microcosm of the last 22 years. Our owner/GM/President and jocks and socks sorter is ok with the last 22 seasons because it brought him billions in cash and a spot in the HOF. At least we know his priorities.

Yet he stops at naming either one as GM...and won't as long as he's breathing.....I can only think of one other "leader" that is as narcisistic and power happy as Jerry is.
Why is the title so important to you? What about the actual job function. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that the combination of Stephen Jones/Will McClay are operating as the GM. But them not having the title allows you to continue your anti-Jerry rants, so that's your focus.

It isn't to me...it is to Jerry, otherwise it would be on either Stephen or Will but it isn't........I have plenty of ammo other than his fake title to be anti-Jerry.....a good start would be his performance as GM, if you think he's been great, I don't know what to tell you.

Cause he would just raise ticket prices/food even more to make back that money in 1 year.

So he wants us to believe he's willing to pay absurd money to win-- but I find it curious he's not even willing to write a large check to land a player like Earl Thomas. Put your money where your mouth is Jerry.

Get us some talent-- you are the GM after all. It's pretty clear after Sat that we don't have quality depth at OL, TE, WR, or S. Go do something besides talk to the media.

EXCEPT, stepping down and hiring a legit football guy as GM........he would draw the line there.
C'mon, Jerry is the owner and made it into the Hall for that. Don't knock the person that took you to the dance...
