What's hilarious is you listen to him talk about Emmitt Smith that way, coming off a year when Emmitt was the League's leading rusher and the team won a Super Bowl

Fast forward 30 years or so and coming off one of the most embarrassing blowout losses in team history in the playoffs versus Green Bay, he backs up the Brinks truck with the record setting deal for a mid-tier quarterback

Something has changed about Jerry over the years.

The book would have to be updated on a weekly basis. It's as if he's competing against himself to top his most recent outrageous statement.

Sometimes I can't figure out if he's serious or if he just thinks Cowboys fans are naive and will believe anything he says.
I don’t think he’s figured out that the most serious and helpful thing he could do for his team is to just keep his mouth shut. We all know he’s incapable of that.

Jerry Jones and the RB situation crystalizes that they really have no guiding principals here, they just accumulate players. They have no roster building philosophies other than go cheap at DT.

Go back to Murray. I believe it was 100% the right call to not re-sign him. Jerry and Stephen laid out their logic as to why they limited their offer and would not match what Philly gave him. Their research and data showed that investing in the TB was likely not going to result in a significant return on investment as you would see from other positions. They also pointed out they were concerned that the wear and tear on TBs was greater than other positions and as such, they saw a drop off in production that you didn't see from other positions.

You came away thinking, gee, maybe these guys do understand this stuff. Took about 12 months to realize they did not. Jerry is nothing but irrational and emotional. The 2015 season went sideways and Jerry, despite using his own two eyes, claimed we needed to invest in the TB position and they used the 4th pick in the draft on a TB. The oddity here was that 2015 had nothing to do with the TB, but rather that our backup QBs sucked. We had a 1000 yard rusher in 2015 so, if anything, Jerry's theory that he applied in 2014 seemed to work - you didn't need to spend infinite resources on a TB to get a good run game.

Nope. Jerry became infatuated with the big shiny toy in Elliott and the rest is history. Fast forward to now, and I guess having been scarred by the whole Elliott saga which included stupidly making him the highest paid TB in NFL history, Jerry decided to go to the complete opposite end of the spectrum and put zero resources into the position. And the results were utterly predictable.

Until a real GM is hired, this franchise is going nowhere under Jerry, and certainly, his son who will likely have full control in the next 5-7 years IMO.

I remember the days when most didn't know the name of the owner of the Cowboys. Heck, I thought it was Tex Schram in my early teenage years.

The only time you used to hear a peep from an owner was the Super Bowl trophy presentation. He'd praise his GM, hand over the trophy to him, and you barely noticed he was still there in the background talking to players and coaches.

The guys that actually put in all the work got to make the speeches.

That's one good thing he's good at, you would think by now though he would be tired of the taste of his own foot
