We've all sat through Jerry's "state of the union" addresses that open every training camp. He meanders through convoluted back stories each time, dripping with strange analogies and country witticisms, while everyone scratches their head trying to figure out just what in the h-e-doublehockeysticks he's talking about.
We remember the "meow, meow" story and the "burn the boats" analogy that he muffed horribly. It's good comedy, if nothing else.
This year, he needs to be careful and contrite about the Dez Bryant situation. Period.
The first day or two of training camp is going to be completely and entirely about Dez Bryant. Certainly, that's what Jerry, Garrett, and the players are going to be beaten over the head about by the media. It's going to dominate the news both nationally and locally.
The team needs to keep its message simple and clear on the subject, and coaches and players alike need to do the same.
Unfortunately, the most likely one to stray into unwanted waters on this is.....Jerry.
