Not fond of agreeing with Jerry, but this is exactly what I was saying during the off-season would be the justification if we did trade Parsons.

He was not the cause of the losses but he was having little impact against good teams because they would gameplan around him by running at him or double-blocking him and no one else on the defense could make them pay for doing it.

The Cowboys needed more consistent every-down help on defense rather than a guy who could make one or two highlight plays per game.

That said, I think Jerry was an idiot if he offered Micah and a first for Williams regardless of how good Williams is.

Now, if he said he offered Micah to the Jets for Williams and their first round pick, I could see that being more realistic, at least from the Cowboys side.

We needed multiple quality defenders, which is why I'm OK with getting Kenny Clark and Quinnen Williams for Parsons. A one-man show just doesn't work in this league where good teams can work around that or take it away enough to succeed.

Hopefully, now we'll build around those two players linewise. I think we've got a decent start with Odighizuwa, a quality DT who can't do it on his own like Quinnen, and Eze. Need one more quality end and to hold on to some of the reserves we've added, like Solomon Thomas, Clowney and Houston.

We may only have two or three more good years out of those DTs because Quinnen is in his seventh season and Clark is in his 10th. But DTs often can play a little longer than other positions and Williams is only 28 while Clark is 30.

Jerry also wanted Quinnen's older brother, LB Quincy Williams, included, but the Jets didn't agree to the trade first of all because they couldn't afford Micah's new contract demanded price, plus the Jets did not want to include Quincy Williams.

That does not mean it isn't idiotic to offer him AND a first for Williams. Look at what Mack got in return when he was traded (who was the last trade that was similar). You can hate on Parsons all you want, but that return would be beyond horrible for Dallas given the situation.

It is entirely possible that Parsons will never be on a championship team, and that trade would have been stupid on Dallas' part. Doesn't have to be an either-or. It is absolutely laughable if you don't see that.
