Even that shatty offensive line of last year gave us the second most passing yards a Cowboy's offense has ever had.

Michael, this has always been my concern with the "WE MUST DRAFT OL!!!" mentality.

If there's a good value, I damn sure wanted him. But in saying that, I never even expected such potential picks to come in and start. More than likely, had we taken a second-round talent that had some warts and needed grooming, he'd have sat the bench this year and would hopefully develop for the future.

Now, such players are good -- and necessary -- to have. But I certainly do not agree with the large segment of fans who think such a player would have come in and improved the team this season, unless one of our actual starters got hurt.

Don't forget that AJ has bulked up to 320.

AJ could be 350 and I bet if he played Dolphins in preseason, 7th round pick Rod Wright has him blown up behind line of scrimmage tripping Julius five yards deep..

Hes too weak , no leverage or talent. I'd rather put no awareness Gurode in there just to prevent seeing someone physically abused.

I hope that bum isnt starting when 44 reps Bunkley comes to town. I think Ill crap my pants if hes in on Kosier and Johnson:banghead:

Uhh....that's the point of me pointing out that he bulked up, i.e., he's added size and strength.

EXACTLY!

Honestly B. I'm more excited about this team than I have been in a long time.

Is it a SB contender? I won't go that far but it should be in every game and very capable of winning 11 games.

Lets see here... Since Jimmy Johnson left we have had Barry Swittzer, Chan the Man Gailey, Dave Campo and Bill Parcels, everyone has stepped in and drafted players.......

Q: when was the last time the cowboys won 11 games

Q: when was the last time the Cowboys won a Playoff game

Q: How many times have the Cowboys been in the playoffs

Didn't the Giants run right thru the CENTER (Gurode) and take the snap from Bledsoe, last year

What do you call getting embarrassed on MNF by the Commanders..

Now you set back behind a desk and look at the Cowboys on paper and say 11 wins and superbowl contender...without a doubt????

Give me a Break,

The realistic view is that we're getting Flo back, we have two young prospects competing for LG, AJ is getting bigger and stronger and is still developing, Rivera is fully healed, and Fabini is a solid RT.

Did anyone say we were gonna win the Superbowl? People said it was a solid draft

2nd best pure LB in the draft
2nd best Tightend in the draft
a 2nd or 3rd round talent safety in the 5th round
best kickoff/punt specialist in the draft ....

looks solid to me.

I liked the idea of fixing the offensive line through free agency. Especially after watching what happened to Jacob Rogers and seeing Johnson and Peterman struggle somewhat.

In most cases, these offensive linemen take time to develop, so I prefer the 26-28 year-old guys who have had three or four years of experience and are ready to start.

I just wished Dallas would have done more than Kosier and Fabini. That's a start.

Are there any other decent offensive line free agents available, or any other potential cuts?

Wow, Mike....this is by far the most optimistic I have ever seen you over the past four offseasons.

Agreed, there is plenty to be excited about. At the very least, I anticipate we won't be wilting in December or blowing close ones on errant kicks.

A lot of factors mitigate success....like integrating even more new young players on D...but Owens does provide the fire power to change the way the Boys are played....and jerk or not, he is as dangerous a player as they come.

Of course, by all means, let's protect our buddy Bledsoe. He gets hurt and forget it. The good news is the division rivals also have to pray to the same gods we do.

I'm more concerend now about the overall coaching and its ability to keep pace with the relative creativity of the Skins, the relentless of Coughlin's discipline, and a resurgent Philly.

Will the Old Man be up to it...65 this summer and still holding onto offensive control so tightly?

We shall see.

I see alot of HOPING. Al Johnson, Peterman and Gurode have not exactly lite the world on fire and they were high picks. Now I see alot of people hanging their hats on Petitti (6 rounder) and a fully recovered but often underachieving Flo. Why should I be concerned???? In fact, everyone should. If you have no doubts about our OL, then you really are a homer. I am just a realistic die hard cowboy fan.

Whose hoping?

Flozell is a legit starting LT. Fabini a legit starting RT.
We didnt have that last year.

Other than D'Brick.....I did not see any OL in the draft that we could bring in and be an instant starter. We needed and need help from players that can start immediately.

Now that you put it that way, I may have to go with 12 wins.

The OL was improved during the off season -- from "absymal" to "merely below average."

It remains the weakest link of an otherwise promising team.

Here's the heart of the issue: the Cowboys see the future as now.

Drafting a highly talented OL who won't start for another year or two doesn't figure into their plans. The Cowboys wanted to draft players who will contribute immediately. A guard who is a year away isn't as valuable as a punt returner who will see game time this year.

Of course there will be some decent OL who are cut or traded in the coming months. With the drafting of Hatcher, Greg Ellis becomes tradeable - perhaps for an OL of similar quality.

Lynn Scott will back up Roy next year. He was always better suited for SS anyways. We'll simply trade Keith Davis to the Saints when Scott reminds Jerry why he is still on the team.

thank you - i've been banging that drum for awhile now and saying "hope" does NOT constitute improvement.

flo was never our anchor and now he gets hurt, the line falls apart? fabini can't even be a lock to replace petitti?

no other position on this team has more ?'s then the OL and to get a super - hela - mega sleeper and a 3 year project was just ignorant.
