Yeah I think this is the much larger factor here...He probably has to fork over a lot more than $70M for Parsons this year too. Revenue sharing checks typically dont get to teams until Mid summer and I bet he would much rather pay Micah out of that money than dip into some of his investments. Added bonus is he gets the media talking about the Cowboys yet again.

I really hate saying it but it’s gotten to where the larger part of me doesn’t doesn’t mind watching these two run this into to ground, which is where it’s absolutely headed.

There’s just no way they can draft and develop faster than talent walks out the door.

The refuse to recognize that there are windows under which to win, and you’ve gotta take advantage when they’re because the system is set up to penalize regular season success. Hence the last two drafts being not so great. They had their shot and blew it, and don’t even know it.

I think he actually WANTS to give out the biggest contract. To me he seemed proud of overpaying Prescott.

Another thing for people to talk about. Not sure how much longer the lack of results on the field they can get away with, but it doesn’t seem as if maximizing cap space is anywhere near as important as the attention he will get over dragging it out. For him it’s well worth the cost. For us, not so much, but again…they weren’t investing the savings in the team anyway.

This is exactly what I think is the backdrop to his marketing.
For the casual fan viewing all the local endorsements, commercials and jerseys surrounding the select few stars, Jerry basks in the glory and sale of "The Over Pay."

Publicity is publicity good or bad.
And to the casual fan you gotta believe that "Well, if Jerry paid that guy that much he must be worth it." And better yet, worth watching.This is the mindset that casual fans would believe.

That could be true I'm not I can't argue with that 'cause we don't know I know this he doesn't want to pay more he's a businessman it's worth $15 billion they don't get that kind of money by making bad deals by purposely paying more here's a low addition to this I imagine this guy and I'm not saying this applies to him but I bet if you ask Jerry three times the same question morning noon and after 6:00 PM he'll have three different answers and none of them will match I don't think he lies I think he has that early onset fog I don't wanna call it dementia because it may not be that serious yet but sometimes he gets put on the spot to answer a question and he rambles on and probably forgets what he's talking about as far as making sense out of all of it...

I know there's rumors going around that that could be a possibility on draft day if the deal still not closed.. I mean if they're too far apart and that's what he's finding out with these first couple of visits with Parsons by himself ask him if the number is large too large like where is his head money wise language wise guarantees and if they don't think they can get on the same page maybe they already talked about possibility of going somewhere else and where would you like to go that is why we do not know anything that's going on up there in northern will they tell us anything that they don't want us to know...

I don't believe Jerry is purposely making fans have anxiety the guy signed he signed everybody who's been up for contracts that are considered homegrown drafted superstars fan favorites they've all been signed what anxiety can you possibly have you know Parsons is under contract right fifth year guys making $21 million this year regardless so he's not going anywhere he could be franchise tagged twice and even if he threatens to hold out then there's a trade possibility anyway you're gonna get a lot for him. So again what anxiety would you have the band's gonna be on the team playing and that's all we really know for sure and the fact is I have not seen a situation where the player didn't get paid so again why would you anxiety level or expectations be up like you're waiting on the edge of your seat the man is under contract this year so is lamb the only person who's not been under contract the threat of it was Prescott there was no trade unless he approved it there was no franchise tag he had all the leverage... And even that deal got done.

So I'm not really worried about it I'm not sitting on the edge of my seat if he wants to play hardball and he gets traded out of here which would be a total shock we're gonna get a whole lot of value for him so I'm not worried at all he's either playing for us or we're gonna find another version of him in the draft I wish the draft was sooner so we could get this all figured out...

It's the same damn playbook for every contract. Do nothing. Badmouth the player in public and through the press. Wait too long. Do nothing for the rest of the team. Get bent over backwards by the player and his agent in the contract because you waited too long and are now desperate. Blame the player for the increased cost. And then do nothing.

I may be misunderstanding what you're saying here and if so I apologize, but the way it reads sounds incorrect.

$33M in cap money doesn't mean that they can only spend $33M the rest of this year. For example they'll probably have to pay Micah Parsons around $100M this year once he signs an extension, but will actually gain cap space once they do. $33M in cap space is a ton of available money and not limiting at all.

My original point was simply that even a billionaire typically doesn't have $100+M in cash just sitting around to pay a guy like Parsons and typically they have to sell off some of their assets to raise the funds unless the team has that big of a fund set aside already. The exception to this is when the league distributes the TV contract money which is sometime mid summer. My suspicion is that this is why Jerry typically likes to wait on these mega deals. This TV revenue sharing is typically how the league calculates the cap number each year. I'd just be careful about confusing cash spending with cap spending as they are two very different things.
