Yeah the browns sure are fools for signing joe Thomas long term, that bum never won anything. Maybe they learned their lesson and they'll cut joe Haden and josh Gordon.

That's not what he said. I can strawman too for you.

So, Demarcus Ware, Tony Romo, Miles Austin, and Jason Witten can all stay until they have the collective age of 160?

Romo and Witten are the two guys on this team that actually played up to their contracts.

rookies get 4 year contracts typically. so every 4 years, we allow our rookies to walk because the entire team failed to win.

The OP was implying, as it was pretty clear given the context, that the players mentioned have had several seasons to get it done and have failed to do so. Dez, Lee, Tyron, not so much...

I've been saying this for years... Why keep restructuring and resigning players like Ware, Romo, Austin , Witten and Carr? Please bite the bullet. Clean house. And stop the cycle of mediocracy. We're not one player away from a Super Bowl.

That sounds good and all, but they can't field a team if the cut Romo and Carr due to the cap implications.

They only need to make 1 critical decision, and that is with Ware. Cutting him would be a pseudo rebuild. It would free up 7.5M if he is cut in March and there would be no dead-money in 2015.

Austin must be cut, that's not really a difficult decision. It saves 5.5M in 2014 if he is a June 1st cut.

They can easily move on from free agents Hatcher and Spencer.

Ratliff is already gone.

Witten could go either way. His 5M salary is reasonable for a player that plays almost 100% of the offensive snaps.

Making these moves would result in a bare minimum of dead-money in 2015. It would be the least dead-money in many many years. They would also have a bare minimum of non-QB players on the roster. It would only be the long snapper and possibly Witten as the over 30 non-QBs.
