Jerry Predicts “Rude Awakening” For Rookies
Posted by nickeatman at 5/13/2010 4:14 PM CDT on truebluefanclub.com
For every guy on that practice field during the rookie mini-camp, and yes that means Dez Bryant too, everything that happened was pretty much followed by the typical “yeah, but.”
With every catch Bryant made, ‘that was a great catch! Yeah, but let’s see what happens against Newman and Jenkins and Scandrick.’
And for the most part, that goes with every pass-rusher, blocker, tight end and receiver. Let’s see what happens when the entire team is on the same field like it will be this week for the OTA practices.
Jerry Jones said he expects the rookies to have their hands full, and then some, come next week.
“I don’t need to see to predict what’s going to happen – they’re going to have a rude awaking when they get out there and compete against our veteran group,” Jones said. “Everybody does, every rookie would. What I am excited about is we’ve got some players drafted that I think can get out there, go through the regime of what we do in OTAs, get ready for training camp and get some strength under their belt between now and then. What I’m really looking forward to is those guys helping us win a football game. I think we’ve got some rookies and second-year players that are going to really help this team be a better team.”
