Jerry pushed for Irving to play this week

This makes it sound like those earlier reports about Irving aren't true. Why would Jerry push for Irving to play if he hasn't shown up for practices or drug tests? Call me silly, but if he wants to play, and he is committed, I think Irving could be a force on 3rd downs. I hate when guys throw away their talent. Sloth is one of the 7 deadly sins.

IF this is true, He clearly doesn’t know his locker room or head coach by now. No one wants someone who’s sat on the couch for 8 weeks and given up to just show up on game day.

You May criticize him for it but Garrett’s gotten his team to truly believe in the PROCESS. Letting someone skip that sets a terrible precedent

I don’t believe this.
I don't believe it either personally, but the media loves to throw out tweets like that without any real proof.

It could have easily been a situation where Jerry said, "I wish Irving could get a few snaps this week" and that turned into, "Jerry demanded Irving get 8-10 snaps and the coaches ignored him!"

If true, this means that Garrett is not the puppet many claim him to be.

He never has been. Jerry shows up for team meetings (even position meetings sometimes) and gives his input, but he leaves it to his coaching staff to make the final call. As we all know, he also defers to staff (even if 'staff' is his son) in the draft room.

Note: I lived in Memphis for almost 25 years and follow Tiger football very closely. I was SO hoping we would take Paxton Lynch. I'd like to personally thank John Elway and the Denver Broncos for not making me and our team look like fools.

I believe that Jerry was the driving force for the Cooper trade, sticking with Gregory, talking extension for Dak when team was 3-5, and probably drafting Jaylon Smith early in the 2nd round.

I do not know if, or how, Jerry lobbied for Irving to play today. But I think Jerry knows a thing or two about players and psychology and success. So, I would not jump to criticize Jerry for this, especially when so few facts are known.

another Irving thread, awesome - not busting the chops of the OP, but Irving is dead to me and seeing his name; his last game that he played we ended the day at 3-3....he is nothing to this team...the opportunity of a lifetime and he has blown it...now he is in other trouble....no, just no

like others have said, I can't imagine for a second that JJ is telling his coaching staff to get Irving in a game - what message would that send to a locker room where the other guys show up for meetings and actually, you know, practice? no

I don't care what his issues are, re you telling me (rhetorically) that he can't stop in for team meetings? no
