Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said Thursday night that Jerry Jones “would be crazy” to fire Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett.

Cuban went on to say that the hardest thing to do in professional sports is hiring a head coach.

Jones was read Cuban’s comments and had the following response Friday morning on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM].

“Certainly I have a lot of respect for Mark,” Jones said. “I will assure you that I can and will make mental notation of all of those plusses that he’s talking about, particularly the relationship of the coach with the team and its status....

Title of the article you're referencing was just a little out of context. Didn't say there weren't areas Garrett could improve. Just said they weren't terminal (ie deal breakers) at this time

Thank you. Beat me to it.
You are exactly right.
The thread title is out of context.
I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with Jerry, just saying this thread title is misleading and that is not what he said.

“Everybody knows you make mistakes. Having said that, they were made on our watch. They were made at our expense. Now let’s take advantage. We paid for it, let’s take advantage of what he’s gained and how he’s evolved as a coach. He’s a better coach. There’s not one thing that I’ve seen in where he could improve – and I’m talking Jason Garrett – that is terminal relative to him being an outstanding head coach.”

So, he doesn't need to improve in any facet of the game to not be an outstanding head coach?

Well, it's open for interpretation, depending on what he meant by terminal. I took it that Garrett has improvements to make, but but he's can make those improvements and go on to be a great coach, as opposed to him being as good as he's going to get. Now, whether or not I agree with that is a different matter. I was only commenting about the context of the title.

So that means that either Garrett is a goner or Jerry is senile.

Yeah, in re-reading it again, it seems like he is saying that there isn't any big flaw in Jason's skill set that couldn't be improved, but it would never stand up as an evidentiary statement, or more importantly as fact. But yeah, I agree that his title could be a reach, which is why I didn't make it a thread title. The message is bad nonetheless IMO.
