"I just remember the importance that you put on hard work. You never took a play off. You ran the same speed whether it was the first play, second play of practice or the game-winning touchdown. You were always the same guy," Prescott recounted. "That's the biggest thing I got out of that and that's something that I try to do each and every day."

Definitely an amazing mentor to have. I hate the 49ers as much as the next Cowboys fan but Jerry is a great mentor for any person to have.

Damn, I really, really like Prescott a lot. The guy just has something special in general and particularly as it relates to being a leader on a football field.

It is easy to say that we Cowboy fans like Dak so much because of what he did in his rookie season or because he represents such a bright future for our franchise - but to be honest, I loved the guy when he was at State - and trust me when I say I'm no Mississippi State fan. Prescott has extremely rare traits from the neck up and it is evident from the moment you see the guy dealing with team mates, media, coaches or whoever. People everywhere just get caught up in his orbit and want to be around the guy. For his team mates, it fosters a trust and a bond that is unshakable. Dak's gravitational pull focuses the whole team on the task at hand and empowers them to play above their heads.

It has been amazing for me to watch how his influence has done so much at every level of football that he's played. Simply a different team when they're playing with and for Dak.

Honestly, the quarterbacks in front of Prescott never stood a chance... and unfortunately for Romo, that includes him. It's not often that you see a QB just take a team away from a very good QB. Both at State and in Dallas, the entire team just got swept away by Dak and simply never looked back.

It is more than just playing well and winning. More than just having a historical rookie season. It is Prescott. It is the sheer force of him and his demeanor. Everyone on the team bought into him lock, stock and barrel... and they always will, no matter what he does or where he does it at.

Playing quarterback has always been about smarts, toughness, being calm under pressure, and leading your team into battle. It is the core traits that are most important in this sport, at that position. Somewhere along the way that had gotten pushed behind being tall, strong, and having a rocket arm. All of those physical traits are nothing without that core football acumen and heart.

Dak Prescott is reminding everyone just how important those are. He is a walking advertisement for intangibles and it is evident to everyone who watches him. It really is no different from what I saw from a young guy who took MS State to unprecedented heights.

Impressive.

I feel like that mindset was on display in the meaningless Eagles game at the end of the year. The guy was playing hard like that was a playoff game. I remember yelling at the TV for him to get down and slide already! lol

I can't "LIKE" this comment enough. They always say that you can't coach the physical gifts. But I think you can change a player physically much more than you can mentally. Some people are born to be leaders. Some are born to be GREAT leaders. You CAN'T coach that.
