Tremaine Edmunds or Roquan Smith. This is a passing league and we need LB's who can run. I know people want Vea, but I don't think he is a three down player. Losing Lee at some point is almost guaranteed. Trade for one of these guys then losing Lee short term and at the end of his contract is not detrimental.

Thoughts?

Agree that if we were going to trade up, those would be two great targets, but you'll have to get near the top ten to get them. You'd be giving up a future #1 or your #2/#3 this year to go get them.

End of the day, we don't have the draft capital. Our top three picks could all realistically start and we need them to.

Smith maybe but no way on Edmunds.

And I wouldn’t give up much for Smith, though I really like him.

Better picks if you move up, IMO.

Vea, Edmunds, Smith, or Nelson if they start dropping in the first round.

Smith and Nelson would be immediate impacts on this team.

Where do we think our LB corp ranks in NFL (or NFC)? Are our D-lineman weaker than our LB's? Maybe it is too expensive to move up. The most disruptive pass rush is pushing the interior line into the QB's face. If Vea is that guy then great.

Need a 3 down LB to replace Hitchens, I'm not buying Jaylon to be 100%, Wilson wasn't very good in the open field and Lee is going to miss some games.

Keep our 2nd round pick and draft Vander Esch instead.
I don't know enough about him. I watched several VT and Georgia games and these guys were all over the field against good competition. Not saying Vander Esch isn't a good LB, I just don't know enough about him.

I don't want to see an LB in the first, let alone trade up for one.

I could maybe get behind moving our 3rd to grab James or Vea, but the 2-4 round of this draft are packed so IDK.

A 1st and 2nd round pick is just too much for any player.

I'll give up a 1st & 2nd for a QB, Left Tackle, or Defensive end but I can't give up that much for any other position.

Im not sure Vea isn't a 3 down player. We have pass rushers who can penetrate, but often the problem is that leaves a big pocket for the QB to step into, or big running lanes for the QB to run through. Vea likely wouldn't have a lot of sacks, but he could collapse the pocket and plug those running lanes, which would make our other pass rushers much more effective.

No player in this draft is worth to the Cowboys the reach to trade up any more than a few picks and not our #2. Let the 1st pick fall to us.

I don't see Vea as strictly a 2 down player, but even with a 2 down run stuffer - if he's dominant - you'll be sticking the offense with 3rd and long much more frequently. Without it, they'll have a bunch of 3rd & 1 or 3rd & 2s to convert and the guy you need on 3rd down is a guy that can stuff the run ... like a 2 down player would be.

I guess since we've hit so many home runs in the 2nd round lately, it will be a bad move to trade up. Welcome to Dallas CourtlandSutton!

Having a load like Vea in the middle might preserve Lee from having to take on some of those RBs that squirt out.
