Hello CowZoners!!

Interesting development with the significant restructures of Lamb and Prescott opening up $55M and placing us 8th on FA money list... Patriots 119M ***??...

Here's my thought... Jerry Jones is, in his heart, a salesman, and a damn good one at that.

JJ says... not going to be 'aggressive' in FA, wink wink, blah blah, how d'ya do m'lady?

JJ speaks, distracts, and simultanesouly opens up $55M to 'not be aggressive' with?

Things that make you go hmmmm.....

Thoughts???

Yeah it doesn't make sense we wouldn't be planning on making some moves. I guess you can roll the cap over right? So it doesn't paint us into a corner, but they do appear to be making the team financially flexible to strike.

At this point trusting anything Jerry says seems naive. Remember he also said "all in" last off season. Who's to say he's not lying now. Ill admit it's also naive to be hopeful but I will wait until free agency before coming to any conclusions.

he opened up all this cap space just to open it up

I’m bout to hype up my Girlfriend bday and tell her I’m going “all in” doing double shifts and cutting back on monthly spending just to surprise her with the standard dinner we usually eat

Jerry is me

Cowboys fans are the GF

I totally understand, and definitely NOT being naive on anything Jerry Jones says.

I'm just thinking... if I was a saleman billionaire... and just freed up a big amount of cap space... kinda makes sense to spread a little disinfo in the media and than POUNCE!

It's a thought, a mental experiment, nothing more. Wondered if any of y'all have a similar thought.

Lol, we are definitely in a toxic relationship.

If you really wanna be Jerry you should find a side piece. Get her pregnant and then pay her off with all the money you made working doubles. Remember it's not a lie if you believe it.

Our idiot GM doing nothing but what he always does - be reactive. He's trying to copy Rosman. The 2 clowns out there don't have a clue, just look to see what works for someone else and copy it.

But it's old and stupid like stop with the mind games, us cowboys fans are vulnerable right now we need good news not games

Not an interesting development at all.

Both signed new deals last year. Both had guaranteed money for 2025. These restructures are written into their deals.

It benefits the team as they can kick cap space down the road -- not a bad idea with an ever increasing cap -- players like it because they get the money earlier as a bonus. Some folks are gonna say "and they get paid it all in Texas with no state income tax!" whereas game checks are taxed wherever they are playing. That sounds good but any economist will tell you, the "no state income tax" thing just means you get higher taxes in other forms and reduced services (which you then have to pay for).

Regardless, anyone with a lick of cap understanding -- or really anyone who has been paying attention to how teams handle contracts over the last 25 years, would have seen this coming from miles away.

Sweet Jeebus if he copies Roseman I’ll do backflips…

It’s perfectly fine to copy that kind of success

They either are accumulating the capital to push forward and waste it by overpaying their own. Parsons is just one of them there are others waiting for a mammoth pay day that makes no sense, like when they tried to way overpay Gregory.

They are obviously in position to add at least a few players.

The room he created is to sign Parsons and if he was smart, extend Tyler Smith. It wasn't to go free agent shopping. We have not signed a high value free agent since 2012. That's not a coincidence. It is our football philosophy.

Signing Parsons gives them more cap space not less.

In my opinion, they need 5 mil for the Rookie pool, some cap space for injuries(IR still counts), and just a little bit for the practice squad.

They will probably want to roll over 15-20mil, depending on IR usage.
So easily 20mil could be used for free agents. Not a lot, but can get some tier 2-3 mid guys with that-if they offer some term.
