Jerry's a mixed bag. He's built a pretty good team right now, and done a lot of good things for the franchise off the field over the years.
He deserves his HoF bid. I don't harbor hatred for the dude. I do dislike how unnecessarily tough he makes things on the coaches.
If Jerry just wore the owners hat I might be able to support this induction but unfortunately he's chosen another very selfish path.
He promised on Feb 25, 1989 that he would do everything within his power to win. That he knew how important winning was.
Initially he followed that path but along the way he has taken another path which hasn't always placed us in the best position to win. Wanting to win only your way is NOT doing everything within your power to win.
So, Jerry found another path to protect his interest which was a brilliant revenue generating mechanism that wouldn't be dependent on winning for continued financial success. This is what he's being inducted for. Creating a means for all teams to be financially solvent without success on the field.
His off field achievements are empty to me because he's become the biggest obstacle, hindrance and handicap we have in building a football team. Having a nice stadium and headquarters means little without the class and respectable franchise we had before he took over.
Without that early success he had with Jimmy he would have already been ran out of town. I fully supported him in those early years despite his style because he didn't hinder the football decisions nor coaching. But since Jimmy he has and that has been his downfall like a wealthy successful businessman which selfish compassions overcome him trying to prove something.
He's became like a great provider but lousy husband which is still a failed marriage. I feel Jerry is like a love/hate relationship that most would prefer a divorce . Maybe not the best anology but what comes to mind.
There was a time when the football success drove the revenue and success off the field . Jerry revolutionary changed the rules which he is being inducted for. Sorry but I can't join in the celebration.
It's been the most frustrating experience in my sports life with my most beloved sports team that I had invested much of my life , time and money.
Yes , we are possibly seeing a better team built much like we were with Bill. Jerry wasted 10 years with Romo between coaches and poor decisions. I want to have more hope as I see the same things you are but I know deep down the same obstacles are there even if they don't seem as prevelant to the naked eye we still as Bill said have to overcome Jerry's instincts which when it comes to football are influenced with a conflict of interest in the revenue.
Like I said. If Jerry would have stuck to ownership he would be more deserving in everyone's eyes regardless if we had more successful teams or not.
Sorry to ramble on but it's very emotional for me.
Thanks
