Jerry wants to re-sign Porter but it takes two to tango

As an organization, we really need to be WAY MORE proactive. It's like buying a $100,000 sports car and THEN learning to drive a stick.
You really should have a plan to sign him before you trade assets for him

Jerry is a horrible Poker player and is once again negotiating in the media.
Seriously, you don't give up a 2nd round pick for a one year rental unless you fully intend to resign him.

Should have had that all taken care of before you traded for him
Agreed, and you really know what it's going to take.
Rumors were the Steelers offered 27 and he wanted 30+.
Porter will not get Gonzalez's contract, more likely in the McDuffie range, but come on, you know what CB pay looks like and where Porter will fall into.
Should have announced the resigning at the time of the trade, or, as another poster said, say "we have every intention of resigning him, next question".
Jerry saying this actually has me worried there is no definitive plan in place here.
A serious NFL GM doesn't trade a 2nd round pick unless he is resigning that player.
