Jerry wasn't going to let Jason go?

"It leaves, from my perspective, a lot to consider here," Jones told Jarrett Bell of USA Today. "This was a little bit of a surprise. I didn't see the Chicago Bears game coming (a 31-24 loss in Week 14) and this one was a surprise. I thought we were prepared to play. I thought we could play better out here. I'm disappointed."

Read that and tell me that he isn't in a spot where he realizes that he just can't sell Jason any longer but he still is hoping to find a way. I'm not reading this as a guy who has already decided to move forward without Jason.

Jerry will do everything in his power and hold on to a thread to keep Garrett here. If he had no intention of this, Garrett like the many coaches that hand come and gone here would have been fired or let go already.

There must be some love triangle going on in Jerry’s World.

I've been saying the bar for Jerry to keep Garrett is way lower than everyone thinks. And we're not out of the woods yet, if the Eagles screw up and let us get in still prepare yourself for him getting extended, even if he loses the first playoff game

Garrett will remain the HC until Jerry says otherwise. Period. We can hope and pray Jerry comes to his senses, but until he does we're stuck with Clapper.

Garrett is gone, has been for a few weeks aside from a christmas miracle for jg.

Always be careful reading into Jerry's comments to the media. He has to balance the truth with sticking up for his coach. Throwing a coach under the bus is a huge red flag for any proven HC who may be interested in the dallas job in 2020.

Honestly, if we make the playoffs I think Jerry will keep Garrett. He's really looking for any reason to keep him.

Jerry was looking for any reason to let go of Wade and promote Garrett. Jerry is looking for any reason to keep Garrett and scapegoat somebody else.

Jerry will look at coordinators first.

I hope that is the case but history shows that Jerry has no control of what comes out of his mouth, especially after some expensive scotch.

.

Moore has been set up to be that person since the second he was named OC.

No, even Jerry knows there’s no way he can keep Garrett. Not if he wants fans in seats. There’s no bigger Dallas Cowboy fan in the world than myself, but if Garrett was brought back next year I’d be done with the entire organization. Jerry knows there’s no decision left to be made.

Jerry would do anything to keep his adopted son in place, as we've seen for years.

It probably took a perfect storm of a terrible division, an easy overall schedule, repeated embarrassing losses, and most of all a relatively healthy team (so no injury excuses) for Jerry to finally give up on his pet project.

Unfortunately for Jason, that perfect storm may have just happened... But the Giants still have to lose to the Eagles.

Jerry loves Jason literally like a son. And Garrett allows Jerry to be Jerry with no resistance

Make no mistake, Jerry wants Garrett here in the worst way. Firing him is a full admission that he was wrong. Jerry doesn't do admissions.

But that could be business suicide at this point. He's out of options.

He's a desperate man right now. The last thing he wants is an outsider like Urban Meyer in here moving the furniture around.

Same here, if you don't think Jerry can't sell making the playoffs 2 years in a row to the masses then you haven't been paying attention

Pretty much... the only thing preventing this from happening completely is that NOBODY is buying Garrett anymore and Jerry can’t sell it. They are seeing all the scapegoats coming and going and nothing changing.

This is why I don't want to rely on the Giants beating the Eagles for the Cowboys to win the division. I keep saying that I don't trust Jerry at all with his attachment to Garrett. He'll look for any small reason to keep Garrett around and give him another chance. Even if its winning the division by the default of the Eagles being worse than the Cowboys. Even after the Cowboys lost to an undermanned Eagles team. All will be forgiven in Jerry's eyes if the Cowboys beat the Skins and the Giants beat the Eagles.

Don’t forget public pressure. Even Garrett’s lackeys in the media from back in Wade’s day are turning on him. So it’s getting really hard, almost impossible to sell Garrett anymore.

Luckily, Garrett is the one who will be leaving......with Jerry dragging from his coattails.

We are still stuck with the General Moron in charge.

Doesnt sound like much of anything to me. I dont know think anyone should be reading too far into these comments to be honest. Sounds like Jerry is saying hes disappointed with how the season turned out, which hes said before because he really believed we would do something this year, and that's really it.

I didn't hear any endorsement of Garrett or reassurance that Garrett is coming back or anything of that sort.

This season is disaster like many before it. If Jones was so sold on Garrett he would have resigned him at any point he wanted. Wanting Garrett to succeed is not the same as saying he will resign him because he likes the guy.

This bar of where he needs to reach that seems to magically change because us posters or whoever have decided what it is, doesn't matter. Jerry saying we have to do better then we have In the past or some nonsense like that is all we had to go off.

Garrett will be let go because Jerry knows he cant justify it based off what hes accomplished and the fact that he let him coach out this season with no contract next year should say something. He could have went and signed him to a 1 or 2 year deal and didnt because he knew if we didnt make the playoffs and make some noise beyond a wild card game, that it would be a failure in his eyes. This is my opinion why Garrett is a goner at seasons end. I have not decided based off like/dislike for him what the bar is, its what weve seen and heard that makes me believe that, and make no mistake about it, I can't wait for the day this clown is sent packing.

Jerry loves garrett and honestly garrett can be an asset to a team in the right role. With that said however, it's a pretty clean split after the year with Jason's contract expiring. He can let jason walk, or move him into a football operations or front office job to make it look like a promotion.

And you can talk about jerry not willing to bring in outside coaches, but the guy did bring in parcells. When jerry gets desperate he will do what needs to be done. And at his age I have to imagine he is more desperate than ever for one last run.

My guess is urban meyer is the HC in 2020, but who knows. Urban is not a guy to stick around long, and could groom Jerry's next project HC.
