throwing money at Ray Lewis during the off season. I do think it would be a major step in the right direction, not a cure all. You wanna face that guy in the huddle after whiffing on a tackle?

Terrell Suggs is a RFA possibly. Atari Bigby and Brian Dawkins are going to be UFA's this offseason though - bring in someone to play alongside Hamlin back there.

And Ray Lewis is locked in, as far as I know. You can't throw money at someone unless they're scheduled to be a free agent.

Ray Lewis is going to be 34 next season. Signing an aging veteran to a big contract is the exact opposite direction that this organization should be going in.

again, he does nothing for the team getting better

there is plenty of talent on the roster, especially when the team is relatively healthy

the coaching is without a doubt inferior, and Lewis does nothing for that

he also does nothing to fix the offense, which was a trainwreck the last month of the season and mediocre the rest of the yr, especially after the first 3 games

Say what you want about Lewis, but the OP is right. He gets the most out of his players. Nobody wants to go back into a huddle after screwing up. He makes people accountable. More than most coaches out there.

Suggs is going to cost a fortune, and I think Dawkins is way past his prime.

I like Ray Lewis but I don't like that our inside linebacker position is becoming sort of a rent a spot for older vets. If Ray was 28 i'd buy. And Ray still has game left I just would like to see some consistency at the position. That's a positive for this team if you see one. I'd like to see Burnett get a shot at the starting spot as well. I know he looked lost on a play today but with a good offseason and I believe his only year healthy I think he still has potential.

The defense doesn't need to be "fixed" in my opinion.

The Cowboys could have Roy Williams (SS) back at the right price, and they will draft a SS for sure. Kevin Burnett may get a contract extention if there is any money. He deserves a starting job some where, and he was solid this year. He played very well. Bobby Carpenter is gone, imo. Henry may be gone. I hope Pacman is gone. You can draft inside backers in round 4. Losing Burnett will hurt this defense if he walks. I don't want to lose Marcus Spears. He's solid, and he should not be that expensive. He has one more year on his deal. Canty may be gone. We'll see. He played much better after the bye.
DE could be a draft target. Jason Hatcher might get his chance. He's played pretty well down the stretch.

It's the offense that needs to be fixed.

The special teams had issues this year and the year before.

I wouldn't throw big money at Lewis. Nagata isn't here to protect him. Plus, he is getting older.

AND..

DeMarcus Ware is fixing to say cha...ching!

It'd be cheaper to hire him as a coach, then.

I think people are overrating our players. It's been my belief that REAL talent can overcome suspect coaching. It's my opinion that the "talent" on this team, while good enough to win games during the regular season, isn't good enough to take it to the next level (against playoff caliber teams...) There ARE a few keepers on this team (ie Ware, Newman) but the rest of the squad seem to be solid AT BEST (even if they show glimpses of being very good at times...)

What defense were you watching in December? Please dont talk to me about the Giant game, no Jacobs or Burress.

Actually they talked about this, at length, pregame last Saturday night that all three Ravens linebackers are UFA's.

So, yes, they could get Ray Lewis if Jerry wants to try and sign him.

I do like the idea of Atari Bigby though. THat would be a very nice upgrade at Safety for us that I wouldn't be at all upset about having.

I like Dawkins too but I'd rather have Bigby on the age factor alone, if nothing else.

But you know seriously, like many people when they get down will go out and "buy" something to make themselves feel better. I think Jerry has this bad. And last week after the Ravens kicked him in the nads he paid Colombo right after.
When I'm depressed I buy a T.V.. When Jerry get's down, he buys souls.

Unlike our other thugs....Tank and Pacman.. Ray makes plays, is an unquestioned leader, and scares offensive players.

Let's start with a FAT NT, and go from there.

This.

Move Ratliff to DE, wave goodbye to Canty.

Then get Henry out of the CB business in Dallas, get a real replacement for Roy Williams the Safety, and more PT for Scandrick and Jenkins.

Then we look at the offense....
