Jersey numbers for draft class

You're now resorting to strawman arguments after 1st going with arguments based you you claiming to know everything Jerry, Blue and everyone else thinks and feels, and ignoring the fact that it is not uncommon for rookies, especially lower draft picks, to not get their college jersey. Additionally you ignore that rookies, again, especially lower round draft picks, don't automatically get to take a number away from a returning veteran. Hell, they don't even automatically make the team.

So yeah, I quit football after 9th grade and focused on basketball and baseball, but that's irrelevant to anything i have written.

Hell, even if you use high school or college as examples, the freshman or sophomore making varsity for the first time doesn't get to walk in an take the number away from a returning veteran, so your argument fails anyway.
Wrong.

It didn't happen for me and a few others during my days. We were the top talented dogs, and when we demanded a certain jersey number, it was given. Plus, we proved we deserved those numbers.

I mean, would you rather be wearing 22 if 23 wasn't available? Lol, besides, like I said, it probably will change after preseason.

My point is he could have 23 now if he wanted it.

Shavon Revel took 27, which is also now worn by Miles Sanders. Traeshon Holden took number 7, which is also worn by Trevon Diggs. Josh Kelly took number 14, which is also worn by Markquese Bell. Is Buddy Johnson untouchable???

Why is this such an issue? :lmao:

Right, and I'd imagine they all get their numbers changed if they make the team. And hey, if Buddy Johnson doesn't make the team, then 23 will be available.

I never played football, I was not that stupid, I played baseball. Catcher or first base?

Football players have nothing better to do, but get the hell beat out of each other. lol. Coach asked me to try out...I threw him a fastball football just messing around and politely told him, sorry coach.

I'm to pretty...#7 was all drip.

The argument for those defending Jack Sanborn getting Buddy Johnson's #57 jersey number because Sanborn is a veteran holds no water since Johnson has been in the NFL longer than Sanborn has.

The Cowboys front office made sure to take #57 jersey away from Johnson and gave it to Sanborn immediately a month+ ago when the Cowboys signed Sanborn because Eberflus likely vouched for Sanborn since Eberflus coached him over in Chicago and probably because Sanborn is going to start.

Well, Jaydon Blue is going to be our RB1 this season. Everyone knows it. He should have been given the chance to pick his jersey number, rookie or not. Starters get preference in football.

Where are the front office excusers? I would love to hear their excuse and try to deflect from blaming the front office for this disrespectful transaction.
Exactly. First Jerry's comments disparaging Diggs about the perceived lack of dedication to his rehab, now his number is given to a rookie.

This just doesn't sit well with me and the Cowboys should be classier than this.

Undrafted rookies:

-WR Traeshon Holden- 7
-WR Josh Kelly- 14
-TE Rivaldo Fairweather- 45
-TE Tyler Neville- 46
-LB Justin Barron- 55
-CB Bruce Harmon- 36
-S Zion Childress- 48
-S Mike Smith- 39
-S Alijah Clark- not announced, but 30 is last DB number left available
Thought Diggs was 7

Uhhh, hello??? We're not talking about how Buddy Johnson got jersey #23. We are talking about BUDDY JOHNSON HAVING TO GIVE UP jersey #57!!!
Buddy Johnson requested 23 when Dowdle wasn’t coming back.
Buddy Johnson has stated he’s not giving it up!

I hear you, but the Cowboys can't make the the numbers of every high quality player off limits. I'm thinking only Staubach and Lilly's numbers have remained unused over the years. Not sure if anyone used 12 before Staubach, but nobody could have used 74 before Lilly
Ron Widby, the punter wore #12, but when Staubach joined the team in 1969 he surrendered that to Roger and wore #10 after that.

In 1964, we had a backup quarterback named John Roach who wore #12. He was a weird mix of QB/DB. He was a JAG, but backed up Bart Starr in Green Bay, and started something like 4 games for them in '63 when Starr got hurt.

Backed up Meredith in '64 and in 4 games threw for 349 yds, 1 TD, and 6 ints. Yikes.
