Im not sayin the man should start, but he has made some plays this year that make you go "Jesse Holley? LOL"

When he went up for that ball on 3rd and long his catch was just as pretty as Dez's TD. IMO

...what he is. A # 5 or 6 WR who has a starring role on STs.

Garrett has plays for him and he will see limited touches. Not bad for a guy who joined the team via a reality show.

He's made the most of his chances and that's a whole lot more than some of the cement heads in the league can brag about.

If there was one thing about Holley I find off putting it's his excessive celebration. I think everyone who is a Cowboy fan has been happy for him, but his celebration against the 49ers in OT was...wow.

I had no problem with his celebration. I think it was quite appropriate given his history.

Having said that, he's made only two offensive plays of note. Good for him, but so?

That's not really true. He got an invite to training camp, basically a tryout, via a reality show. The rest was due to hard work and ability.

I would say more than 2. SF game he had a couple of catches to get us in FG range to tie the game then the big catch to help us win the game. The catch last week. Granted this is not going to get you in the HOF :laugh2:

I will say when he has been given the opportunity he has not let us down.

He is a role player but teams need those role players they tend to make a difference

True. The show helped him get his foot in the door after that he has worked hard to keep his spot.

poor jesse, only remembered for a reality show. he actually had a decent college career, 126 receptions and 7 td's.

He did but did not make the cut as a rookie and like most kids who are cut they are soon forgotten. Irvin show gave him a 1 in a million shot and he took advantage of it.

I too think that his celebrations are a little bit disproportionate to his accomplishments, but he is big + tough and has spider-like hands in traffic.

I credit Irvin for making him a better receiver and teaching him how to work harder than almost everybody else.

What's his weakness, his speed? Seems like he catches everything

I thnk he has 4 catches on 4 targets.

100% :)

Seriously, if he is Sam Hurd, we are fortunate, Sam made a lot of play sand scored more than most #4/5 receivers.

Good post...

I have thought about this as well. Holley doesn't get many opportunities, but he almost always makes the most of them when he does. His four catches this year have all been made at crucial times, and they were by no means easy "pitch and catch" type throws either.

I feel very comfortable with Robinson as our #3 receiver (or #2 when Austin/Bryant is injured), but Holley has earned the #4 spot ahead of Ogletree in my opinion.

It will be interesting to see what happens next year with our receiving corps. If we re-sign Robinson, which I hope and fully expect us to do, then our top 3 spots will be locked up and Holley, Ogletree, Radway, Harris, Holmes, and maybe even a few newcomers will be competing for two to three spots...We have more talent at the WR position than many of our fans realize.

holley with limited throws his way = catch

ogletree with limited throws his way = wrong route, cutting off route, dropped pass

bennett with limited throws his way = dropped pass

holley has a very limited role in this offense, but what i like about him is, when his number is finally called, he produces. that is the kind of role player we need on this team. that is the kind of role player that helped make NE the team of the decade.

i dont care about pro bowl stats, just come off the bench and do your job when called upon.....and holley does just that. i am so happy the playmaker brought him to us.

oh and one more positive, he is a beast on our ST coverage unit.

And was a great ST cover man.

That's just simply not true. This is a case study on how peoples' prejudice alters the way they view players. Ogletree had a one really bad game against the Commanders. However, in every other game he's been called upon he's come through. Ironically, there is no Commanders comeback win if he doesn't make that crucial catch late in the 4th QTR. There is no Jesse Holley catch in overtime if Ogletree doesn't catch that crucial long 3rd down catch on the last drive to put Bailey in FG range to tie.

People literally watch Ogletree come through big time and time again, but remain silent just waiting for him to mess up and do something wrong.

#1: Austin
#2: Bryant
#3: Robinson (he will be resigned)
#4: Holley (clutch as a WR and is a top special teamer)
#5: Ogletree Harris and perhaps a draft pick or free-agent rookie will compete for this spot
#6: See note above for #5 - open competition for #6 as well

I agree. Ogletree deserved the heat he took after the skins game but that has not been the case since. He has gone out and made the catches that have come his way. We saw this same additude with Jenkins.
