Jesse Holley just said Escobar's role on that onside kick was to BLOCK, with Witten to catch it.

Listening to post-game show right now, thought that was an interesting take, especially because Holley would probably know.

Makes sense. Witten would have had that ball easy. In fact, Escobar screwed up two onside kicks. He dropped the first one too, but fortunately Beasley recovered.

After seeing the GIF Escobar should have blocked and Witten would have had it. Thanks for the gif.

Escobar did score a touchdown. Still, he should take Scandrick out for the best steak in town for making that muff forgettable.

Lol at people trying to call out a st player who would know. St isn't like defense most are the same assignments.

Holley is a clown who loves to hear himself talk, he was the same way when he was on the team.

What's the basis for saying the special teams assignments stay the same over time and across different coaches again? Holley may be right, but if Escobar doesn't muff that ball, it certainly doesn't matter. Similarly, if he blocks and Witten muffs it, we probably get the same result. The important thing was the muff, and not Jesse Holley's guess at what the assignment might have been.
